Laika Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Imagine being Jay Woodcroft right now Pretty cruel game. Dude gets hired February 2022, they immediately go to Conference Finals and lose. Next year they go 50-23-9 and lose in round 2. Then is canned after a 3-9-1 start in his second full season. You can't really tell me that 13 games tells you much of anything about a coach. Obviously we don't know the additional info, maybe he sucked or didn't have player respect, who knows
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 My eyes are bleeding watching these hockey games tonight.

I give this new dude credit with the D, but most of this great play is because McJesus woke up and apparently so did their goalie.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Lindholm was traded from the Flames to the Canucks on Wednesday for Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick.

That's funny...cause Rutherford was on OverDrive today and they asked him if he was planning on being busy after the All-Star break as he typically likes to get his trades done well in advance of the deadline. He told them they might not even wait until the All-Star weekend. He wasn't kidding.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Good return for CGY Yeah, good trade. Lindholm's been ice cold, I'm hoping this helps him to get going. Also, a little surprised with the in division trade.

Also, a little surprised with the in division trade. Nah, Calgary knows they aren't making the playoffs and Vancouver is unlikely to resign him imo when Petterson is UFA after the season and they'll be focused on him.

Yeah, I know... Calgary are still getting assets, like a haul. lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Yeah, I know... Calgary are still getting assets, like a haul. lol For sure. Thats a great return. If you squint, the player himself they got back slots right in for Lindholm on Calgarys roster, plus 2 D-men prospects that havent even signed their entry level deals yet, a first rounder... like the conditional 4th doesnt even need to be there for the return to be amazing. What Toronto got to offer for Tanev?? Understand Im not a Flames fan its just that given my proximity to the city it dominates the sports news cycles

Yes, people are generally more willing to admit to their issues and seek help/use the resources available to them than they used to be.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Not surprised on Kuznetsov. He's an elite talent on pace for like 30 points - has basically mailed in the entire season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 1-1 going in to the 3rd C 'Mon Oilers
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Winning streak snapped at 16. Vegas plays Edmonton so hard. The Lemieux era Penguins record stands

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Yes, people are generally more willing to admit to their issues and seek help/use the resources available to them than they used to be. That is a fantastic trend. Time to break that "tough guy" mentality in hockey.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Winning streak snapped at 16. Vegas plays Edmonton so hard. The Lemieux era Penguins record stands That was like a playoff game.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 That was like a playoff game. Yeah it was a great watch. Gotta love the timing though, going to tie an NHL record win streak and have a long layoff between games. Nobody wants to stop playing games when you're winning. On the bright side (for them) they get Anaheim next so can start a new streak again in pretty short order.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Welp... Reilly's getting suspended I think.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Maple Laughs absolutely imploding. Things I love to see… It.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Welp... Reilly's getting suspended I think. Yeah that's gotta be at least 2-3 games, even for a first time offender. A shot to the head that long after the play is done, not able to defend it as a "hockey play". Grieg is a s*** disturber, he knew what he was doing. Rielly took the bait, got himself suspended. Should have just dropped the mitts, Grieg would have obliged.
