Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 The price for starting pitching via free agency seems like it's going to be high this offseason. Thank you Mr. Sabean. All the more likely AA looks to trade for pitching.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Niemann was outrighted today. He could be an interesting target for the 5th slot in the rotation depending on how his rehab is going. If he fails, we have lots of kids that can step in, and he should come cheap. McGowan have better stuff. We don't need more injured players.

Doubt he would come to Toronto, though I'm sure he'd be a good fit in Oakland. He's the next Bartolo Colon comeback story.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 After a down year the Giants will be right back in the mix next year competing with the Cards and Dodgers. Nice signing.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 After a down year the Giants will be right back in the mix next year competing with the Cards and Dodgers. Nice signing. They will have a solid pitching staff, especially if Hudson stays healthy and gives them 180 innings. Cain Bumgarner Lincecum Hudson No. 5 starter They likely still will add another arm and some BP pieces. They need another bat (preferably a left fielder) and I think they definitely will give the Dodgers a run for their money again.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Damn, rough day today. Hudson and Ruiz were two of the players I thought made the most sense here. I'm thinking Morales and Mike Morse. We need more power bats.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 nope ankle Was talking about Niemann.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I'm thinking Morales and Mike Morse. We need more power bats. add "we need one inning eater" --------> Lucas Harrell for Hutchison + Kenny Wilson + Mat Dean + Dawel Lugo.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I'm thinking Morales and Mike Morse. We need more power bats. Morse would be a nice platoon bat at 1B/LF and a bat with pop off the bench. Morales likely will want 2-3 years upwards of $30 million which I don't think he'd be worth.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 add "we need one inning eater" --------> Lucas Harrell for Hutchison + Kenny Wilson + Mat Dean + Dawel Lugo. What a fantastic K/BB ratio. 89 K's vs. 88 BB's! 1.70 WHIP!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 What a fantastic K/BB ratio. 89 K's vs. 88 BB's! 1.70 WHIP! Sarcasmo. Morse and Harrell are s***.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Sarcasmo. Morse and Harrell are s***. Morse wouldn't be a bad right handed power bat off the bench who could spell Lind at 1B. Not sure if he crushes lefties like Gomes does - gotta check the stats.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 His numbers against LHP and RHP have been pretty similar throughout his career. Still the Jays haven't had a power bat off the bench since Matt Stairs lol.

Not sure if he crushes lefties like Gomes does - gotta check the stats. Morse is the worst defensive outfielder that I've seen play in years, Thames looks like the sexy George Clooney in front of him. Lind is a great hitter against right-handed pitchers but he has defensive limitations (1B), reason why we need someone who can destroy lefties and have some defensive value .............. ... Jeff Baker.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I wouldn't mind Morales on the jays but were not matching what the mariners or other teams are willing to pay. I can see someone offering 13+ per for 2-4 years.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 BOSTON has had 'serious dialogue' with Beltran
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Was reading somewhere today there is speculation that the offseason really won't start moving anytime soon because the Yankees aren't sure how much they'll have to spend (Arid situation). SO SO boring so far.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Wow guys, I was being totally facetious with those suggestion. Your all dumn.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Wow, a smart move by the Indians. Shocker. My jaw is on the floor. This isn't sarcasm at all. noooope.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 The Indians don't get enough credit for having a super savvy FO. They're almost as good as the Rays and A's at this kind of stuff. Melky/Rasmus/Bautista/Gose >>>>>>>> Brantley/Bourn/Swisher/Murphy
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 What was the last terrible move they made? They f***ed up the Sabathia and Lee trades I guess. I was going to say signing Kotchman after that anomalous season with TB, but I think they only paid like 3M for him. Yan Gomes + Aviles for Ace-swingman?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Steamer projections! Brantley/Bourn/Swisher/Murphy projected WAR = 8.9 Melky/Rasmus/Bautista/Gose WAR = 9.3 In terms of talent both Rasmus as Jose are better OFers that Brantley/Bourn/Swisher/Murphy
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Jose yes. I have a hard time saying Rasmus is clearly a better player than Swisher and Bourn. 4 tools Vs 2 tools
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Rasmus doesn't have 4 tools. 3 tools (Hit, Pop, D), very close to the 4th (Arm)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 How exactly does Rasmus have a "hit tool"? He hit .276 with a .356 BABIP and struck out 30% of the time.
