The other day, CP24 misspelled "announcement" as "announcment" and it really grinds my gears.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Wow even Drew. Red Sox aren't messing around. Their middle infield depth is insane.

Things are edited less than they used to be.
Nox Verified Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Rajai to the Rays on a cheap deal wouldn't shock me. Then again someone might feel the need to overpay him for his SBs.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Wow even Drew. Red Sox aren't messing around. Their middle infield depth is insane. How many teams in baseball could afford to extend a QO to Stephen Drew? Still waiting for a free agent comp system that doesn't favour the good/rich teams and reward their luck/success with even more draft picks. Here New York / Boston / friends, you have so many assets that we feel compelled to gift you some more!
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Pirates not extending a QO to AJ Burnett. Very surprising IMO. Retirement looming???
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Really no reason for them to QO him. He's stated pretty clearly that the only 2 choices are that he'll either retire or pitch for the Pirates.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Jays are going to end up with nothing and then do something crazy on the trade market. It's 2013 all over again.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 1. Hopefully every one is OK If so then 2. Obviously he needs to get the Hell out of Seattle
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 2. Obviously he needs to get the Hell out of Seattle He should come to Toronto to escape
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 He should come to Toronto to escape My thoughts exactly. We'd be doing him a favour.

Yeah I don't even think Selig can try and spin the QO system into anything resembling a competitive balance system. It's just a way to try and keep salaries lower
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Keith Law's top free agents (full list http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9862934/robinson-cano-tops-year-free-agent-rankings-mlb) 1. Cano 2. Ellsbury 3. Tanaka 4. Jimenez 5. Choo 6. Santana 7. Nolasco 8. McCann 9. Drew 10. Burnett ... 27. Josh Johnson Ubaldo at four seems high, although I do like him. McCann at eight seems pretty crazy. Won't it be sweet when we get 2 of the top 3 (Tanaka and Cano). *Dreamz*
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Or Tanaka-Choo, trade Bautista for Profar/pitcher. Ellsbury would be a good fit too if some team wants to trade a decent chip for Rasmus. I just really want Tanaka lol.

AA will hire one 15M dollars pitcher (I hope that his talent evaluation be good this time), Kazmir kind pitcher and trade Stroman/Sanchez ++ for Beckham+Flowers+Floyd/Dank

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Yankees inquire about Brandon Phillips; price said to be very steep That's got to be a negotiation ploy.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 MLBTR: Cano's $300MM asking price was the cost for the Yankees to keep him from hitting free agency, not his contract demands for right now, writes Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The ten-year, $300MM proposal was given to the Bombers before the All-Star break. Meanwhile, a return to the Bronx is still the most likely outcome, Rosenthal writes. In a radio interview earlier today, Curtis Granderson said he is considering accepting the Yankees' qualifying offer of $14.1MM, echoing what his agent said last week, writes Anthony McCarron of the New York Daily News. "Well, it's definitely something you've got to think about and I appreciate the Yankees extending that offer to me," Granderson said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I'm pretty sure Cashman was hoping Granderson would turn down the QO so he could use the $ to sign Beltran or Choo and not have any net loss of draft picks (lose one, gain one)

Much as we hate the situation the Jays are in the Yankees are really in the deep s*** with nothing much on the farm ( IMO ).I expect them to sign Tanaka at all costs . Speculation now is a posting fee near 75 mil but who knows how the new rules might change that
