Why would the Cards even be in the trade market . Hell they have everything they need except a SS ,most of it young and controllable . Add to that several decent pieces close to the majors .IF Beltran moves on they have Taveras . Just go out and sign a Glove type SS and keep winning .

Yep. We need a good old style AA good value acquisition. Lynn would be a good one.

 

I can see it now. AA acquires Lynn and the board loves it... until we find out Sanchez is one of the pieces we're giving up. And then we find out Lynn is our biggest acquisition all off season. And then he goes to post an ERA over 6 in 2014.

Yup I like Lynn a lot. I would be satisfied if he's the best pitcher they bring in. He's durable, cheap, controllable, and good.

 

I like him a lot as well I just don't see him being cheap coming from the Cards. I don't want to sell off people like Stroman or Sanchez for him and I got a feeling if AA is dealing for him he is going to give them up. Just look at what they gave up for Dickie.

 

If they will bite on a deal surrounding Gose then I would say great, but I can't see it.

Gose has perceived attitude issues. He is not solely team oriented and therefore not a true Cardinal.

If the Cardinals don't re-sign Beltran (and they probably won't) they will need OF help. Jon Jay hasn't worked out. Holiday is their only really good hitting OF if Beltran walks.

Hopefully...

 

We will have pitching depth to trade over the next year (I hope), but right now it's hard to know who keep and who not to. And several guys who might have had trade value a year ago are big question marks.

The Tigers announced today that Miguel Cabrera underwent successful core muscle repair surgery (a.k.a. sports hernia surgery) this morning. The operation was performed by Dr. Bill Meyers in Phialdelphia, and Cabrera's timetable for recovery is expected to be six to eight weeks. The Tigers anticipate that their perennial MVP candidate will be healthy in time for Spring Training.

I always thought of him as a good pitcher, didn't know he stunk so much last year and that he would be 30.

IMO it's have to be a 3 team deal to get any of the Cards' pitching. Something like Bautista to Tex for Profar+ which is then swung to the cardinals for Lynn + Martinez...

Profar for Lynn + Martinez seems like a big win for the Cardinals. Maybe it's just me but

You see it that way cause the Cards are dealing from a position of immense depth and their history of exceptional player development. If it were another team, then I would have some reservations about giving away that much talent. Even if it is for Profar.

I think I might have more doubts on Martinez sticking as a starter than most as well. Not that my opinion really matters too much on Cardinals prospects that I haven't looked at extensively.
