Anyone know what happens if Cleveland Texas and Tampa all end up with the same records

I think they do an Amazing Race type thing. They are all given instructions and clues that eventually lead them to some random ball park. First 2 teams that show up get to play in the wildcard game.

I've never heard what happens in the event of a three way tie. There must be a rule somewhere on the MLB website.

Its something very straight forward that I can't think of eight now. I kind of want to go with combined record against both teams and the top 2 would advance, but not aure

It's something to do with the records. But the 2 lower teams play each other and then the winner of that game I think plays the best one. So there would be 2 wildcard games for the AL.

MIAMI -- The Marlins on Friday afternoon announced that they were relieving president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest of his duties, effective immediately.

 

Beinfest, who has headed the personnel department since 2002, departs with three games remaining in the second 100-loss season in franchise history.

 

Also on Friday, Jim Fleming was relieved of his duties as special assistant to the president of baseball operations.

 

"The Marlins organization has decided to make some changes at the helm of our baseball operations," team owner Jeffrey Loria said in a statement. "Effective immediately, I have relieved Larry Beinfest of his duties so that he may pursue other opportunities.

Due to bad forecast in Texas they started the game vs CAA at 11:00 AM. Glad they did this - they should do it more often when an important game needs to get played.

 

1-1 tie in the 2nd. Totally must win for the Rangers.

Pence Giants close on five-year, $90M deal

 

Definitely that raises the bar on a contract for Choo and Ellsbury. Choo likely will get $100 + million now and I'm sure the benchmark for Ellsbury is then $125 million.

Giants now working on extension for Lincecum

 

Now that the Giants have locked up Hunter Pence, they have turned their attention toward working on a contract extension for Tim Lincecum.

The 29-year-old right-hander is set to become a free agent after the season. After a highly disappointing effort in 2012, he has had a minor bounce back in 2013, posting a 10-14 record, 4.37 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 193/76 K/BB ratio over 197 2/3 innings. While he's still incredibly talented, his poor results the past two seasons may severely limit the type of contract offers that he's looking for.

I don't see Lincecum getting more than 2-3 years on the open market. I'm sure the best offer he'll get is from the Giants right now since he's a homegrown talent who has won two Cy Youngs and World Series with them and a fan favourite. Clearly a PR move.
