G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 @jonmorosi: John Farrell asked after Bailey's blown save if he may need to consider change in 9th inning, at least temporarily. "I think so," he said.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Farrell is so clueless it's amazing. I think we overachieved last year if we were able to get 73 wins with him as manager. Just wait until their players realize how bad he is, should be a snowball (i hope)

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Blue Jays’ Neil Wagner is passionate about poetry and pitching It is 3:15 p.m. in the Toronto Blue Jays clubhouse, and three bullpen buddies are booting up their iPads for a video-game competition. Meanwhile, fellow reliever Neil Wagner is reading a book of poetry published in 1940. Since his arrival from Triple-A Buffalo two weeks ago, Wagner has assimilated smoothly into one of baseball’s best relief squads, allowing only one run in 10 appearances. Off the field, he is quiet, friendly and bookish. In a clubhouse where electronic gadgets fill the down time of most players, Wagner is an old-school, ink-on-paper guy. His current fare is Wild Heron, by Daniel Whitehead Hicky, a poet from Georgia who died in 1976. Wagner found the thin, dusty volume in a used bookstore in Buffalo, where he pitched for the first two months of the season. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always read,” Wagner said. “I’d read with my parents before I went to bed. Now my wife and I sometimes read a book together before we go to bed, and we have our own stuff to read too. It’s not anything unusual for me.” ><><><><>

His line: 0-for-5. But the Angels outfielders' performance at the plate was one of the worst in baseball history. The 2010 American League MVP grounded into a double play in his first three at-bats, then struck out in his final two -- including to end the bottom of the ninth with the game tied 2-2 and runners on first and second. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Hamilton's win probability added (WPA) -- which measures the percentage by which a player improves or worsens his teams chances to win -- was -.477. In other words, Hamilton reduced the Angels' chances of winning by 47.7%. Hamilton has struggled all season. He's batting a career-low .213 with 10 home runs, 24 RBI, 73 strikeouts and a -0.2 WAR in 69 games. He ranks in the bottom 10th (7th) in the majors in percentage of swings outside the zone (40.6%).

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Anthony Gose in the DOGG house..... Anthony Gose was benched at Triple-A Buffalo Thursday due to a mental error he made during Wednesday's game. Gose failed to field a ball cleanly in center field in the ninth inning of a one-run game and then took his time getting the ball back in, letting the winning run score from first base. "For the life of me, I’ve had some players as a manager who have really been challenging," Bisons manager Marty Brown said. "Anthony is one of the most talented players I’ve had as a manager. But sometimes it’s difficult because he doesn’t apply that. It’s nothing we can’t work through." Jun 21 - 10:34 AM Source: Toronto Sun The Dogg was Marty Brown!?!?!?! Who knew?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Cherington only GM to attend showcase Right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, likely to be the next big thing from Cuba, drew a huge crowd of major-league executives at his showcase Thursday night in Tijuana, Mexico. “The world was there to see him,” one executive said. “A million teams were in there.” The Red Sox’s Ben Cherington was the only general manager to attend the showcase, while other clubs were represented by assistant GMs and scouting directors, major-league sources said. Gonzalez, 26, missed most of the last two seasons while serving a suspension for attempting to defect, according to the Los Angeles Times. However, he made a strong impression while performing in game-like conditions in Tijuana, sources said. Major League Baseball will declare Gonzalez a free agent once he receives clearance from the U.S. Treasury Department. He is not subject to the limits on international spending due to his age and the number of years he performed in Cuba’s top league. In other words, he will be available to the highest bidder. -Ken Rosenthal ......
