Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 These umps are just wanting the spotlight. Its awful some of the calls, ejections this season. Just ridiculous. They're making it harder and harder to defend the "human element", hopefully more and more people start to demand replays and computerized strike zones, these guys are getting worse at their jobs every single year.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 It's really not that difficult, its the umpires job to officiate the game according to the rules. If technology has shown that it can improve/enhance the umps ability to do this then MLB should be embracing whatever tools are available to ensure the game is called as close to error free as possible. The fact that MLB choses to ignore that there is a fairly straightforward solution to improve their officiating, is just sad. Umpires making mistakes is human...but the human aspect is no longer a "quirky" part of the game when much of it can be corrected.

I have less of a problem with a straight up blown call, even if it's a bad one In this case, like so many, I have a much bigger issue with the ump: A) appearing ready to call the pitch a ball no matter where it was, due to Burnett's reaction to the previous pitch (unfortunately, not shown in the clip) and Immediately ejecting a catcher for questioning the call in a very quiet manner
deepz Verified Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 The quick erosion of ump quality we are seeing HAS to be a systematic problem from the top-down. These umps are clearly butt hurt they aren't players and are crow-barring themselves into the game no matter what. I remember being an RA in University and seeing how a tiny bit of power could make someone a complete *******. That's what this is.
deepz Verified Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 So Carlos Quentin is in the lineup. He'll be plunked promptly in his first AB.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Big suspension news coming down the pike.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hearing about 20 players going to be suspended
deepz Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 If it's 20, you have to believe a Jay is on there.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Difficult to call--however, I can see some big-market names in there.. but let's wait until the list comes out.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Justin Grimm, who the Jays will see on Sunday vs. Josh Johnson(projected), got lit up vs. Boston. It's now 9-0 Red Sox. Oakland's starting to dream of 1st place now..
Randy The Robot Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Everth Cabrera, Fautino De Los Santos, supposedly a Cardinal (maybe Jon Jay).. - I haven't heard any Cardinals mentioned at all. And you only specified Jay because he's brown.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Cano's apparently a possible link with Biogenesis as well, because the spokeswoman for Cano is on the Biogenesis documents.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Wouldn't it be sweet if Cano was suspended. That would be the straw that broke the camel's back for the Yankees. It might also dramatically drop his price in free agency. That's good if he signed with us, really bad if he resigns with the Yankees at a reduced price.
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Michael Wacha's changeup is pretty awesome.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Nick Franklin with a bomb double bro
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 double bro Hmmm, I see that now. Home run call was overturned?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Dodgers may have Bo Jackson 2.0 on their hands Puig 2 HR last night He can do it all
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Dodgers may have Bo Jackson 2.0 on their hands Puig 2 HR last night He can do it all Bo Jackson wasn't the big deal, just "one hit wonder"
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Dodgers may have Bo Jackson 2.0 on their hands Puig 2 HR last night He can do it all Interestingly scouts aren't hyping Puig the same way the media is. Definitely seems like a difference maker in his short time in the MLB though. He's certainly a guy I'll be following closely over the next few seasons.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Chris Perez arrested for drug possesion . Haven't stated what drug but rumors are it's pot .
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Teheran no-hitter through 7 with 10 K, 2 BB against the Pirates. Thrown 93 pitches. Great line, I've always like Teheran. I doubt he is ever the star he was once pegged to be but, he's still a front end guy IMO.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Great line, I've always like Teheran. I doubt he is ever the star he was once pegged to be but, he's still a front end guy IMO. Brandon f***ing Inge single against Teheran Tony Bosch, do your job.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Two pathetic offenses still going at it--Seattle and Chicago(we see them next week) are STILL tied at 0 in the 13th inning. And you thought the Jays had it bad..
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 14th inning and the Sox score 5 in the top of the inning Now with one out in the bottom of the 14th, the Mariners have the sacs full!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Unlike the Jays, the Mariners don't hit into a game inning DP! Instead Endy Chavez hits a single to left, one run is in, bases still full for Jason Bay!! He's the tying run
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Bay wiffs on a pitch down and away, not a bat AB though Kyle Seager is Seattle's last hope now, 2/4 tonight
