And did they not know the rule about the challenges at end of play? Clear as day strike as far as I could see, play continues. Someone should have been shouting 'challenge! challenge!' from the dug-out. That is on the Schneider and the coaching staff if they didn't prep Kirk on the rule... if Kirk didn't think it was a strike or didn't remember the rule even though he was prepped on him.

I realize this. That is why they only let him go 3 or 4 innings. They could have continued to do that and he would wind up only with a few more then using him as a reliever. As a reliever he goes 2-3 innings every 5 games as a starter 3 or 4.

I saw on twitter the rule is you can challenge when the play comes to completion. So why didn't they? Clear as day strike... no one from the dugout yelled at Kirk to challenge? Do they know the rule? Is it true you can challenge at the end of the play?

First 6 weeks in state side low a you find out if a guy has 95% hand eye coordination, or 99%. So Jays pick up guys who passed at least that first test. Not saying they'll make it, but seems Jays take on guys that are the opposite of Billy Beane, lower drafted, lower ranked but hit ..280 or .300 or somethiing with 30 walks and 15 ks the first 6 weeks. Obviously these are under-powered, or unathletic, or some other flaw, no one is trading a guy with 30 walks and 15 ks and power and scouts well. But like Jays are collecting 'passed the first test' guys and we will see if any of them become anything.

In an idea world Miles goes to the bullpen, because 4 inning starts tax the bullpen, and better to have a guy starting who can go 6... but Spaghetti only goes 3 or 4 himself so they didn't fix that problem, other than they can use non-leverage relievers on Spaghetti day because they are behind 5-1 or something, but with Miles it's 1-1 and they have to go to the leverage guys... so I guess the move does give the leverage guys more rest.

It's probably not entirely Schneider's fault. He has to deal with cards he's handed. Two decisions that peeve me off. 1. Miles replaced by Spaghetti guy - Both are 4 inning starters, but Miles will give up 1 run, Spaghe.tti guy 3-6. Miles might win, Spaghetti guy probably not. Was Miles more valuable as a 4 inning starter then bullpen ? Debatable, I am sure he gave us some key innings out of the bullpen here and there the last month. 2. Jesus Sanchez in left - Honestly goes back to Springer. I guess something is going on there we don't know about. It seems insane that he's only played 16 innings in the outfield. He's gone 1000, 400, 16 the last few years. Dave Winfield did 200 or so outfield innings at 40. Are either of them Schneider's fault? Better question is could another manager maneuver these situations better? Would anyone recognize that Miles should be a 4 inning starter, and Springer a part-time outfielder and be able to make that happen? Of course we never know, Miles could get injured and Springer make more errors then Sanchez and get injured, so maybe Schneider/Front Office made the right call here.

Whatever the case I predicted a Perry/Miles piggy back. Apparently Laika says Perry's stuff probably isn't that interesting to call up from AA.
