  1. I feel he’s not much more different than he was in previous years, more he’s just going through a hot stretch. A 5-10% increase in power seems like it can be sustainable though even if there are a few more strikeouts. With his defence he can be a 3.5-4 win player for the next couple of years at least until the athleticism declines.
  2. Great to win that game in the end. Big sweep.
  3. Blame it on the FO for having only 3/5 viable SP on the team.
  4. Yeah I thought the pen had been managed pretty well honestly. Hoffman is the closer so you can’t expect him to not go out in the 9th just because there are LHH up. Hoffman didn’t even throw that bad of a pitch to Sheets.
  5. Vladdy just a pathetic AB. Takes 2 pitches down the middle which he then complains about. He just isn’t a superstar plain and simple.
  6. Its not even a given he's better than a guy like Fisher lol. I don't think I'd even sign him to 1/5 given the injury concerns. He was dogshit last year even when he did pitch.
  7. You probably just have to live with the result of him losing a few runs with the arm. At least the range makes up for it. If Straw is in there at the same time maybe you move Varsho to LF but that could be a case of it not being worth the hassle/such limited upside for the trouble of it.
  8. There is probably wayyyyy more guys taking PED in sports than you think. Look at the numbers Lebron puts up at that age.

He’s just a choker as simple as that. Doesn’t have that killer instinct that the other superstars have. If this was the only time it’s happened it would be one thing but he’s been invisible in big games year after year. For a guy who’s a top 5 player in talent to have 3 goals in his last 21 playoff games is insane.
  10. The Jays like many teams in baseball over inflate their “ticketmaster” prices meanwhile will sell thousands of tickets to a company to sell on the secondary market for 20% of the cost. Super sleezy ethics which also undercut their own season ticket holders but according to their financials that’s how they make the most money so that’s the process. I wouldn’t even say it’s Leafs fans will pay anything, more it’s corporations will pay it because they get a tax write off. A pair of golds for the leafs now cost like 30k for the season. No average fan is paying that lol or even rich fan I should say. If the Government ever got rid of the entertainment expense these teams would be in big trouble. I bet you season ticket holders that sold their tickets for game 1 of the second round lost money on their seats.
  11. The last part you hit the nail on the head. All sports teams do not give a s*** about the fans, they are all about money. They might give the illusion of “caring” but the reality is they want fans to think they care so they spend money. Every finance department in sports would take 5% more money if the trade off was a stadium that was going to be 70% full instead of 100%. All these venues go “cashless”and mobile only when covid began citing health reasons when it’s complete ********. They just want all customer information and then sell it to other companies. As for the stadium atmosphere I’ve been probably 10 times this year and I’d say it’s certainly weaker than it’s been in past. The biggest thing though when you compare it to other stadiums is jays fans really only cheer right after something happens instead of the anticipation of something happening. You’d like to think the crowds get better as we get into summer.
  12. Jays are doing another renovation of the TD clubs in the 200 level for next year. So I think its safe to say Shapiro will at least be here another season if he hasn't signed a contract already. Tickets are going to be like $250-$300 a seat and you have to sign 3/5 year contracts. I guess its good for revenue but I'll tell you the atmosphere in the ballpark so far this year has been pretty weak. A side effect of all these fancy clubs/general seating areas is there's a ton of people who just aren't watching the game at all. Its really only until there are 2 outs in the 9th that the crowd seems to get involved in the game and even then its nothing like it is across other baseball markets.
  13. If Yariel can show some consistency it would go a really long way to the pen having some nice depth and not needing to lean so heavily on the top 3 arms. Hes been great lately so hopefully he can keep it going. Far too often he would miss with uncompetitive pitches. Fluharty seems to have solidified himself enough to be a second lefty you aren’t afraid to throw in there. The deception seems to make his pitches play up a notch. Not holding my breath on Swanson being healthy let alone effective when he comes back. You just gotta hope the other guys can remain healthy.
  14. Yeah I’m not sure you’d want to be playing Santander in the field for the next 3 years given what a Schwarber contract would look like. Might be fine for 1 year but Santander is only going to get older/slower. Yeah he’s looked great of late, even in the field he’s been pretty good honestly. Seems like when he’s playing with confidence he’s at a new level. Everything is going great for him right now but I’d like to see how he handles adversity/a slump before we can pencil him into a starting role for future years. Also need to see him play against LHP to see if he can be a full time player or if he’s more of a platoon guy. His at bats have been fantastic though, even when he’s taking pitches you can tell he’s seeing the ball really well. I hope he can put it all together because he’s got the tools/upside that a lot of players in the org don’t have.
  15. I’d love to see Tucker as well but the track record of players passing on Toronto in FA is pretty large so I honestly don’t see it. It would take a pretty big overpay to outbid the Cubs and Yankees and at that point it probably doesn’t make sense to sign him to that $.
  16. I’d say Schwarber is a tier above Santander offensively but I know what you are trying to say. I think you would agree though the Jays are short on elite talent that is needed to be a true playoff contender.
  17. I disagree as I think of a star as 4+ War player. Santander never has done that and is more of a 2-3 win player that hits a lot of HR. Bo is a star but he’s a FA at end of year and with the decline in his defense/speed not sure you can confidently project him to be one for much longer anyways.
  18. Bo needs to make that play. His range has been horrible all year.
  19. Well the alternative of trading pending FA/guys with 1 year of control left would bring back way more future talent. The team needs star level talent to get out of this 80 win tier type team and it’s been pretty evident over the last few offseasons they aren’t going to get them in FA. Maybe if they drastically overbid but then the team is going to be high in the tax.
  20. They shouldn’t be though. And all it does is make getting to 90 wins in 2027-2029 that much more difficult.
  21. Why should this team be buying at the deadline? They aren’t a World Series contender. Even if the team were to sneak into the playoffs this isn’t a team that stacks up well. No ace or even number 2 SP and the lineup is short on power which is how most runs are scored in the postseason.
  22. Vladdy has to catch that ball. This guy has dropped like 5 or 6 balls in the last few years in critical situations that have been just killers.
  23. That’s where you miss Giminez. I think he makes that play on Crawfords ground ball.
  24. Draft is a crapshoot which is why they need to trade for high upside talent to get out of this middle ground they are stuck in. Anyone with half a brain knows this roster isn't winning squat and a retool/rebuild is inevitable anyways with all the old/soon to be FA on the team. This is playing out exactly like 2017/2018 was where the FO says the goal is to compete and they just end up delaying the inevitable and trade guys later than when they had more value. I bet you fans would prefer to watch young players with actual upside next year than whatever the hell this team is.
  25. Not as pathetic as his salary will look 8+ years from now when the team actually has a contending roster but will be hamstrung by his contract. All so we could see him put up a 150wRC+ on a bad team for 3 years.
