  1. 39 pitches through 4. This guy may go deep into this one!
  2. Exactly. It's f***ing crazy that some people on here are writing Bo off after 87 PA this year. This kid has put up 16 WAR in his first 2400 PAs and has three straight seasons of at least 4 WAR. You definitely trade him if things go south through the season, but people are acting like he's a useless bum. We're in April!
  3. Varsho going to put this team on his back. Let’s goooooo
  4. I don't know about Cy Young, but Yariel looks like a polished pitcher to me. His fastball is no joke, he 'pitches' with all of his offerings, and everything is thrown with confident command. Goddamn. As long as Gausman continues a return to form, we don't need him to be anything but a fifth starter and he's looking great in that role right now (8 innings yes, but the arm looks goooood). The Jays took a swing on this guy with a long term contract and so far I understand why - could be a tremendous signing. As BigCecil said though.... real early. As for the "lack" of pitching depth. When you start the season with a Manoah, White, Rodriguez, Francis to start the season, you just need one or two to pan out and you're hoping on Ricky T. being ready later in the year. The news on Ricky T. is a kick in the balls, but If Manoah continues to progress, he could be another back end starter that can step in. Not sure what the team will allow Rodriguez to build to on pitch count, but I also don't think Francis is a write off just yet.
  5. Great post, agree with all this. There's no way the organization jumps the gun on changes unless the team goes on some epic losing streak. It's wild to me how Alejandro lost 60 points off his SLG percentage from 2022 (541 PA) to 2023 (422 PA) and the trend just keeps worsening. It's not like he wasn't fat in 2022 - all of a sudden what modest pop he had has completely vanished. He was incredibly valuable when he was a strong defensive catcher that could hit ~15 homers and take ~60 walks. The rest of the league was wise to stay clear when the Jays were trying to trade him.
  6. Wendy's is good, but Harvey's.... *chef's kiss*
  7. I don't think he'll be an elite glove, but he's the best shot we have internally at developing a genuine big league SS. The problem has always been the lack of pop in his bat.
  8. This guy is playing 4D chess with us
  9. A very healthy payroll and no real albatross contracts (assuming Springer is playable through the next couple years which I think he will be). Not a great contract, but also a manageable duration and budget hit. I think this was an uncharacteristically poor off-season for the management, but they've made some good trades/bad trades and have a pretty good track record on short-term contracts. The development piece has not been great, but that also takes a lot of time to see alpha in a market with a lot of randomness/unpredictability. I also think their farm team is underrated right now (but still mid) because they don't have the super high-end toolsy guys, but they do have a lot of possible major leaguers in the system including Schneider/Clements. I don't think Atkins survives if they underperform expectations this year. An incoming GM is not looking at a s***** situation at all as long as they payroll doesn't plummet.
  10. A lot of this is true, but there is still hope my friend. There's a lot of season to play and the suckatude may or may not continue. You never know when some young guys may surprise us (Schneider/Clement) or when some guys stuck in a miserable slump all of a sudden get hot. I've always found you to be one of the most balanced posters on this site, and I believe a night out at Swiss Chalet would go a long way.
  11. I don't even recognize you anymore.
  12. Is there ever a series against the Yankees where the calls favor the Jays? It's the same ******** story year after year. I've ranted about this last year when the umpires gifted the Yankees +15 runs over the course of last season per umpscorecards.com (That would take 15 games for our current offence to reproduce!) vs. - 3 runs for the Jays. That's a goddamn 18 run differential that easily could result in +4 WAR (or a wet dream Varsho season). So far this season the Yankees are already at +2 runs vs. -2 for the Jays. At this rate, we may start putting up negative runs scored! If I played guitar, I'd be smashing it right now. Bring on the roboumps!
  13. AND they're still 4-4. Just wait till they start batting .200!
  14. Not sure if his eyes are open or closed anymore.
  15. Very different take..... but just as compelling.
  16. Personally I think Leo DiCaprio should be cast in this compelling biopic. Margot Robbie would play the wife men would kill for, with a cold unforgiving edge with a simmering hatred for shady strip joints. Private school son (important viewers are constantly reminded this special child was in private school) would be played by Timothée Chalamet, a slightly troubled young man (Yankees fan) desperate to live up to his father's not so humble brags. Big budget incoming.
  17. It does feel good - exactly where he should be.
  18. Let's destroy Stroman. Go Jays!
  19. Hmmm... maybe just whoever can get on base.
  20. Marcus Aurelius himself would be envious of the stocism on display by Team Not Panicking. It's a sight to behold, similar to that of the Spartans facing insurmountable odds against the hordes of unwashed masses. While I would be honored to join you, I'm not going to lie to you. One more of these no-hitter or 1-hitters and I might lose my composure. signed F L I P B A T (we miss you DeanMike).
