    Yup. They should also be taking a harder look at extension offers that have length. At the time of the Berrios signing, I thought it was a nice value play for the Jays, but a seven year contract on a pitcher is scary and not many are going to land those in today's market.

    Don't like his history and don't want him on the team. I'd rather throw Francis out there and see if he can have a long-term future as a back-end starter (and a cheap one). Point is kinda moot since I'm assuming German would only sign where he has a very good chance of becoming a rotation regular (i.e. Pittsburgh).

    So what? If you have a sense of humor you can't be a winner? Josh Donaldson used to prank teammates - was he not a winner? I agree with you that teammates should hold each other accountable, but I also think that's better done in the clubhouse, not on camera. As for the Yankees... f*** the Yankees. Maybe they didn't accept losing, but they still seemed to do it pretty well last year. Need more stiff upper lip!

    I think if you took a quick look at the rotation depth for all the other mlb teams you’d feel better about what the Jays have here. I’m hopeful that Francis is a legitimate fifth starter and I’m still a Ricky T believer and think we will see him before the all star break. Manoah is a wildcard, but all in all you have a lot more palatable options for the grind of a full season than the last couple years. Any team would be hurting if they lost their ace.

    What if Gausman and Berrios go down and Kickuchi blows up!? The front office needs to plan for these things and have at least four aces on the staff. Also, what if the team starts 6-20?! We're f***ed guys! What if Bo and Vladdy get injured?! What if?! We need to have some all-star back-ups too just IN CASE. Oh wait, Espinal IS an all-star back-up. Maybe we are actually f***ed.

    Yup, the Jays are doing the right thing avoiding those deals where they can. Maybe it makes sense in some very select scenarios.
