    I think they definitely will target him if they don't land Ohtani. If they do land him, I doubt they believe Joc can be a full time OF anymore.

    Based on what Atkins said he wants in potential OF additions, I think the Jays will target one or both of Aaron Hicks and Austin Meadows in FA.

    If what the Yankees are giving up is true, there is no way the Jays were ever going to be seriously in on Soto. Atkins simply does not overpay to that degree in trades when it comes to surplus value exchanged. It just doesn't happen.

    It's not Varsho's fault Atkins constructed the roster last year with 3 CFs patrolling their OF everyday. Also I 99% guarantee Varsho is at least the starting CF vs RHP starting in 2024 and moving forward, if not the outright everyday CF.

    Cardinals would still have to add for Atkins to accept. Again, Atkins almost always gains between 5-10 surplus value on every trade he makes, while this 1 for 1 swap has the Jays losing a slight amount of surplus value. If the Cards added Edman (9.6 surplus value) to Walker that would be closer to realistic for Bo.

    Very close to matching surplus value. 55.1 surplus value for Bo vs 52.6 for Walker.

    The guy who created ZiPS thinks (rightfully IMO) that Vlad Jr should be a full time DH moving forward. Yes he's that bad defensively at 1B now.

    Wanted to throw Caissie in your Morel+Hoerner base because I remember rumours about the Jays being interested in him in his draft year.

    Except Atkins gains between 5-10 surplus value on almost every trade he makes. So any mock trade you come up with is more likely to be closer to reality if it has the Jays gaining between 5-10 surplus value, not an exact value match. Something like Morel+Hoerner+Caissie for Bo plus one of Barriera/Babe/Jimenez/Barger/Nimmala would be a lot closer to realistic.
