  1. ... he actually is though. Jk .. or am I
  2. It's not hard to figure out that trade. SEA couldn't find hitting without a trade and they grow Swansons on trees so just trade one for a hitter. They just traded Sewald for a pretty shaky return but they'll just find another Sewald or Swanson or Brash or Munoz or Topa etc
  3. Dipoto can't figure out a lineup but the pitching he comes up with is insane
  4. We need some quality LHBs. Or to take a chance trading for some fringe, young ones like Larnach types.
  5. I'd basically be aiming for Junis and Velasquez, Nick Martinez or Fedde. And the assets we get for Kikuchi and the money we save in the payroll. So you're gaining tons of depth all over the place. And I'm fine opening for a Junis, Martinez or Velasquez type because I think Francis is good for 2 IP. You could baby Tiedemann as well and let him go 3 or 4 because that's probably what they're gonna do anyways right Again I'm only doing this because we're not using Kikuchi in the playoffs and he's probably not re-signing. I'd just liquidate him. I just don't think we have the innings if someone gets hurt as we currently stand
  6. He won't get guaranteed. I'd definitely take him as a long man who can start though. Personally, I'd live with a 5th slot that's Francis opener + Junis or some turns you could do another RP + Wood or some other 6th SP type. You get milb depth for Kikuchi and you have 13M or whatever to play with. Kikuchi's not going in the playoffs anyways and he's probably not re-signing.
  7. I don't know what Manoah looks like right now. We might actually have a rotation slot open. Beyond that, Kikuchi is an expiring and might not be re-signed. He can be moved for futures and you sell these MLB FAs on an open rotation slot or at worst they're #6s in the pen. Someone like Junis was already doing that. Like hey we have at least one spot open and also Manoahs slot is a question mark so just sign here and compete with these other 2 guys and that's basically how SFG creates depth. You have to slightly weaken your 4/5 but you have 6/7/8
  8. Need some Manaea, Junis, Velasquez types from FA
  9. I think our pitching needs way more depth because it's very unlikely they'll all be healthy again
  10. Nah I loved the Kiermaier deal and wanted him before we signed him. On board with Belt. I'm just a bit surprised with Green. But like I said, I guess we have more money than I thought
  11. Guess we got more money than I thought because we have alot of holes right now
  12. Ya true which is why it's wise to spend 20+m on a reliever
  13. Man that's a lot of money with no guarantees
  14. Just s***** minor leaguers that's all it means
  15. Thanks for reminding me how s*** our coaching staff is. Atkins is supposed to be a nerd and he's got this dumb Maga hitting coach and dui Pete Walker Listen to Donnie ecker or Brent Strom talk and wonder if we're playing the same sport
  16. You just gotta restrict how many pitchers you can roster somehow. That's all there is to it. Also Gallen pulling a f***ing pitch card out of his pocket mid AB is insane and he should go to prison
  17. In the land of big brain teams it was a big balls team who said f*** it Yolo and won. Although I think their hitting coach is probably the best in the game
  18. The Dodgers replacing Seager with Miguel Rojas was certainly a choice
  19. Seager has like 5 swings. The Rangers as a whole were swinging straight down on all the Astros rising fastballs. The best hitters nowadays can all adapt More than likely we struggled because our gameplan and preparation were not advanced enough.
  20. There's probably like 10 players who actually have a launch angle swing or whatever that means. I think the game has already moved on from dudes upper cutting mindlessly.
  21. The game has probably passed Shapiro by. There's no way he can keep up with the literal science and tech wars going on right now. If Atkins keeps getting 85+ wins then Shapiro doesn't want to look too far into it. I'm sure he gets all the mlb transactions and can give intelligent input quickly if he had to but the actual development strategies and lower minors tech, he probably is completely out of the loop.
  22. Well their whole bullpen was acquired for I think literally nothing. They got Lopez turned him around then got Povich and Cano, then claimed Lopez back. Of course they got Bautista for nothing and also Coloumbe. And Bryan Baker and Cionel Perez also. I think ya basically every good RP they have was created from thin air
  23. These are insignificant one way or the other. You're just moving value to different areas of the team, not creating any. Teo for Swanson is fine. Are you producing anything out of thin air like other organizations though? No you're not. Atkins is good maybe even GREAT at using payroll for free agents and moving mlb assets with value for other mlb assets with value to plug holes. But we have no ability to produce value out of nothing and that puts us below the upper echelon organizations. Like I get legitimately worried when the Os claim Tucker Davidson from the Royals..
  24. All Varsho has to do is hit some dead pull shots and he'll have a war over 5. Twitter nerds were all taking the under on his wrc+ projections bc his swing plane was s***. But he has pull power. It's an adjustment he can make to put it all together. There's a decent chance he's better than Moreno next year. And I have no problem trading catchers bc they're unreliable. We should have got more than Varsho but it's not franchise crippling at all IMO. Atkins should have dealt Kirk. That body type will not lend itself to long term success period. But maybe every other GM could see that.
  25. The Dbacks are also nerdier than us on top of it all. I think they even have a chick in their nerd dept
