  1. Crawford/Solano platoon = 3 war
  2. AA is guaranteeing a ton of money to RPs who appear to have another level but can't get there. We'll see if it works out
  3. I think what's getting lost in all the Manoah stuff is that he's not that good to begin with. I mean, he's good but he's not as good as people think. In his big year, he had like a 4 xfip and 23% K rate. Decent k%-bb%. Stuff graded out around average. Doesn't have huge velo. Doesn't have anything for LHBs. Like any young SP, he can improve but he wasn't an ace IMO. It's a blessing in disguise if another org thinks it's just the pitch clock that sunk him because I think he would have regressed anyways
  4. Sign Gott. He's pretty good
  5. Its probable that CWS will DFA some players who are better than the ones they just received.
  6. You can influence VAA by just being short or by being a freak like Degrom who gets way down the mound and somehow throws at an angle of a 5'9 guy. You can also be Josh Hader and side arm the ball but have it come out with the trajectory of a 5'9 guy throwing a 4 seam
  7. I would say it still seems pretty powerful, ya. I think it will hold on longer than sweepers. Some pitchers are going sweeper to righties and gyro to lefties (bryan woo) bc sweepers are so bad to oppo handed batters. I also think yimi garcia was a VAA play I always wonder how good Stroman would have been if he continued his 4 seam usage from his rookie year which was basically the best year of his career.
  8. I should have specified it was on 4 seamers only, which ya is very surprising when you look at the majors The cynic would say we're late to the party and the Dodgers have 50 minor leaguers with elite seam shifted wake now
  9. Vertical approach angle. So our pitchers are throwing less downward than any other org.
  10. Wow our pitchers are 1st in vaa. Didn't expect that.
  11. Chapman is very confusing. I wanted to say his hip surgery f***ed him up and stopped him from pulling the ball but 2 years ago he pulled it a s*** ton. All other power indicators are strong. He hit better on the road. Maybe the new dimensions hurt him
  12. Big strong horse for Mozeliak to fawn over
  13. I think the Cards would overvalue him and he also is probably not good. I'd rather sign one of the many FA SPs. I'd target all their LHB position players because those aren't available in FA as I see it
  14. Manoah for Carlson + and then sign FA SPs is a potential boon for us. I'm kind of into Carlson and Donovan or Edman but I think that takes more than Manoah.
  15. The Yankees do weird things with pitchers. Both Gray and Montgomery have gone on record saying their coaches were telling them to do s*** they didn't want to and as soon as they left, they benefitted. Severino was basically the same pitcher as he was when he was an ace. I think his slider velo needs to get back up. His projected contract is like 20% of what Giolito is projected for. It's like less than Chad Green money for a SP that can win you playoff games. I don't understand the difference besides health. But Giolito was healthy and sucked s*** and his velo is way down from his peak. Its discrepancies like this in the market right now that I think we can take advantage of
  16. There's so much pitching out there. Guys like Mahle and Severino are getting no buzz. Both obvious homerun signings
  17. Forget the position players if you can actually sign Yamamoto I'll get by with LHB reclamations like Gallo Wong Winker Brantley Santana Hicks
  18. Votto can't even stay on the field at this point. We're gonna get Brantley for the old LHB slot Then again he can't stay on the field either
  19. Very Kris Bryant-esque. Could have that one bounce back year without strong peripherals and trick someone into thinking that mvp guy is back
  20. Robert has too many ways he can decline.
  21. I'm generally not one to think that but if you read up on what Ecker does, there's just no way Mattingly can do that. Then again that's probably Guillermos job. But like Ecker looks at how his hitters biomechanics are matching up against the opponents pitch shapes and well.. you can just read an example https://blogs.fangraphs.com/texas-rangers-offensive-coordinator-donnie-ecker-talks-hitting/ And that's not even current day Ecker. So just the fact that Atkins puts any weight into Mattingly is concerning because there's just no way he's at the forefront of this stuff. Ecker talks alot about optimal path and path forgiveness. I saw Garcia completely miss hit a ball oppo and it was a homerun. When Vlad mis hits a ball its a 99% out probability
  22. Mattingly is moving to an offensive coordinator role and will be more involved in daily hitting. I'm sorry but there's just no way this guy can keep up with the Donnie Eckers of the world.
  23. Bellinger might get 12 years from the Rockies you never know
