I never said any or that. I'm just not surprised a team with legitimately good players happened to win games. I'm sure much worse teams have made it this far
People were actually surprised they nuked a semi retired Kershaw. I get over 162 they threw alot of scrubs out there but when you actually lined them up against who they faced, they weren't that far behind.
Carroll is a superstar and Marte is a top 20 ish hitter over the last 5 years. They have like 30 hits this postseason but they're not like David Freese or something
Dbacks are complete s*** and we're so much better and more worthy and more special except for the fact the Dbacks have 3 position players better than anyone we had this year
Has Ricky ever gone 6 innings in the minors? For me he's not a serious SP prospect until he can string those together. The minute he does, I'll put my faith in him bit until then I see him as Pearson redux and that's mostly to protect my heart.
Wish someone would ask about our specific hitting and pitching coordination. Like compare Guillermo to Ecker in Texas or the team of guys in BAL. How they get their swing decisions sent to their phones after the game and stuff like that. How are we going to improve there.
Aces still trump everything. You can have all the accumulated fwar you want but at the end of the day it's Nola, Wheeler, Gallen, Lopez and ghost of Eovaldi that win games.
It's just whack a mole when u build your team exclusively through MLB transactions though. You're dealing with all 30+ year Olds. There's so much volatility with declines that holes open up out of nowhere.
The only way to be sure of what you have is development because you're getting much longer and more predictable windows of a players career. And we suck at that
Next year Bassitt and Kikuchi will get hurt. Gausman will lose a tick and decline then we'll say damn who could see the pitching fall apart
The problem is trading at the time top prospects and then paying an almost FA quality extension for a guy and then treating him like he's Kyle Gibson.
That is a huge huge indictment on Atkins IMO
Listen a new school team picks up Aaron Hicks or Ohearn from the scrap heap bc they somehow like his profile then he hits dead pull shots for them as soon as he puts the bird on his chest. Whatever the f*** those nerds are feeding those guys info wise is what we need.
We have super talented hitters regressing. Guillermo is not feeding these guys the same nerd stuff
Atkins is not a nerd. He's way behind
Berrios would have gave up a bomb to those lefties. The problem is we have one good Lefty bat on the team and he's a 40 year old.
Right on right slider/sweeper is death from a top 30 SP (lopez gray).
I'd take a Kepler Wallner Julien Kiriloff Larnach etc in a heartbeat
Atkins is not that new school. New school is like the Orioles/Rays. And a team like the Mariners who pull a rotation of aces out of their farm system. Kirby Gilbert Miller Woo Brash etc.
Atkins is good at mlb transactions but those are easier nowadays with so few teams trying to win.
His pitching approach is to sign reliable 30 year Olds for 20m and hand them to Pete Walker. That's not anything new school.
Just because he wears glasses and looks like a nerd doesn't mean he's Mike elias and sig mejdal. The guy was an ex player
