  1. Meh some teams were thinking of stretching him out apparently. Clemens had him at 2/18m and top 50 FA He's just one of those fip beaters no one believes in. He's basically top 5% every year in exit velo against
  2. Wow Suter only 1 x 3m. Would have taken him as a long man / 6th sp
  3. Hey what if this guy's job is just to coordinate rides for Walker
  4. Looks like we hired some guy named Ricky Meinhold to be our pitching coordinator which I guess is a move in the right direction. But he doesn't seem like a stuffist from what I've watched of his interviews so that's concerning.
  5. Exactly. He'd just get hurt and mail it in
  6. Glad we dodged Brantley
  7. Orioles are gonna start Mayo and Basallo there soon pal we're f***ed
  8. Ya they have to hit those to start at those specific defensive positions for a WS calibre team basically. None of them are slam dunk defenders except maybe Jimenez so they all have to rake. What's 50th percentile for these guys.. like 0.5 war? Not even usable
  9. Schneider getting looks in LF now. Orelvis shaky at 2B and RF. He's probably a LF on a good team. Barger might be a RF bc of his arm. Horwitz is what, like an Adam Lind? Roden LF. I hope there's a 3B in that group but most seem bearish that there is. Jimenez is a dime a dozen SS prospect. No one wants him to take over for Bo when he bolts. My eyes don't even make it to 35+ guys. Every org has 100 of them. Best case IMO is Barger 3b, Orelvis RF, Schneider 2B. Horwitz DH. Jimenez Util. Roden LF. But this is like 90th percentile outcomes for every organizations 10-15 prospects.
  10. Varsho with a hitting instructor guru who tells him what pitch is coming through telekinesis and real time virtual reality based on the opposing pitcher's vaa above expected and seam shifted wake > Moreno Varsho with Mattingly or Guillermo or Hudgens or this guy Hague? Wait how many of these guys are we gonna try
  11. We all want the Jays to win. I hope Ross bangs my mom and Arjun Niwhatshisface turns into Corey Seager. I also give him tons of credit for the things he does well. The guy hit on like 9/10 of our 30 year old signings. And I have a sneaky feeling Varsho > Moreno. I just don't think those skills are as valuable as others.
  12. All that matters is drafting and development and development of mlb players. All the good moves Atkins makes at mlb level are band aids. He's really really good at those but you can see how we get passed by draft and develop orgs. The bottom is about to fall out, how is that not insanely obvious? We're red lining our payroll and he's hitting on every 32 year old we sign. In relation to 2010 team building, Atkins is basically god. But team building in 2024 is different. Research scientists (ironically from U of T) are writing research papers on how having positional roster flexibility adds 1-2 war because baseball is actually like manufacturing. All our 40 FV prospects are at LF/DH
  13. He's not garbage. He has nasty stuff. He's a legitimately electric arm. But everything else is a question mark. That's just a fact. Guys don't go from 3.1 IP in AAA to 8 innings overnight. He threw 4 innings twice all of last year man. There's so many things to take from that. Is he airing it out because he knows he's only going 4? Can he even physically go 5? Does his stuff hold? Does he have a deep enough repertoire and on and on. You can't just say oh he's #6. If 7 innings a night Bassitt goes down we just plug in Ricky T. No it's like you plug Ricky for 3 IP then you go to.. Wes Parsons?
  14. Getting bounce backs is great. And I actually think most of them WILL bounce back. But you have to factor SP health luck as well. It's reasonable to assume runs lost on that side. And this is all in the context of a team that fell short regardless. So we were going into the offseason needing tangible improvements to a team with multiple players either in the decline phase or close to UFA. I would have liked to raise the ceiling of the team but we didn't do that at all. It's nice if we get bounce backs but will that even be good enough? Like I said, a move like Giolito is a potential windfall that I think we need. Is it likely he gets to 5 wins? No but it's possible. I don't think we have time to tread water with this roster. Is 160 innings of bounce back Severino a ceiling raiser? Yes. Those would all be moves that I understand. Low years, high volatility but high impact. This tread water stuff is probably just not enough IMO
  15. It's very hard to go deep in games. Physically, mentally and stuff wise. You have to check all the boxes. Until he does that, I don't see how someone can expect it. He can't even go 5 in AAA. But I'm fine with him as a prospect. I do laugh when people are like, "oh but he's #8 behind a guy wr DFAd and a 1 inning RP Bowden Francis."
  16. Crazy times when guys are talking themselves into a KK/IKF offseason now. Any reasoned criticism is met with reddit level copium
  17. Tiedemann is an opener until proven otherwise. He's alot more Pearsony than people realize.
  18. It's just unlikely that we get two consecutive years of perfect rotation health. And last year our non top 5 were minus war. And that was with Ryu.
  19. I can see bounce backs for the position players. But Atkins is on crack if he's comfortable with our pitching depth.
  20. The delta in wins between one of the remaining SPs and our 5th and 6th options is quite possibly 4 wins because I really think our 6th SP options are minus war players. So in my eyes the easiest way to add a f*** ton of wins is in the rotation. The only way to add wins in the lineup is.. literally only Bellinger? But if we don't re-sign Chapman you're kinda f***ed regardless
  21. Ah yes people doing the math and figuring out there's no wins available on the position player side
  22. Gio Urshela. 20th percentile outcome 1.1 war and 99th percentile outcome 1.2 war Jays championship
  23. You think we're so good that we just need a 1.5 war reliever? I don't know what this board is smoking but we have to get alot better.
