    I think there was a better use of money out there for the Braves than Kelenic but then again every hitter they acquire is 20% better than average. But then again in that case do you really have to pay that much for a LF

    Both teams are just in completely different places. AA replaced Soroka with Murfee on the 40 man and that's a win bc Soroka has no application for a team trying to win a WS. A roogy has more value. Same thing with dumping Wright. They're trying to fix Kowar and get a good RP out of him. That's just more valuable to AA than a rehabber

    I think in our situation we can offer to take Cronenworth back because he actually fills a position for us. And his contract is so hilarious that the Pads probably want to get off it asap. So that probably brings the Soto package down a bit. But getting stuck with that and not extending Soto is pretty terrible so ya..

    Martinez just fits because he meshes with all their young SPs as a guy who can easily move in and out of the rotation as needed

    Arozarena has never had as good of a season as Teo had with us. Hard to believe. But just shows how non elite he is.

    Well Atkins was proud to mention Francis (a 2 IP reliever), Mitch White (DFAd then brought back then has to pass through waivers next year if we send him down) and Wes Parsons (the only actual SP that might be optionable?) as rotation depth. I'm guessing it'll just be Ricky T for 3 innings at a time though.

    Hou has seen an exodus because their owner thinks he's Jerry Jones. New gm signing terrible RP contracts. Can't figure out to play McCormick. Had no SP depth. Just lost their best scout. SFG can't develop any picks and just showed huge dysfunction pinning their failures on Kapler. Zaidi hasn't delivered anything he said he would and is sweating. They just lost their one strength, Andrew Bailey. I only docked CLE a bit because this fascination with hit over power is a fatal flaw and has cost them N Jones and Caminero. The sneaky smart teams are not necessarily ahead of us but I just think they do a way better job than people realize.

    Top 4: Orioles, Rays, Braves, Dodgers Sneaky smart teams: Reds, Dbacks, Cubs, Mariners Still pretty smart: Brewers, Guardians Effective Dombrowskis: Rangers, Phillies, Blue Jays Lower tier Dombrowskis: Twins, Red Sox, Marlins Teams that have fallen below us: NYY, HOU, SFG Might not be that s*** anymore: Tigers, Royals, Mets. The rest are dumb.

    Exactly. In the end they're just putting payroll into the stratosphere and trading prospects for veterans like Dombrowski would.

    Depending on who you give credit to for the 2016 draft, I think the AA regime has almost as many players here as Atkins. What is it like Vlad Romano Mayza Jansen and then Biggio/Bichette who knows. And Ross definitely has uhh Schneider, Manoah and Kirk. And I guess whatever Pearson is contributing.

    His trades and signings are very good. His drafting and development is non existent. Obviously just trading and signing catches up to you because you start losing leverage and have to cover holes so you end up trading Moreno for Varsho because you don't have a single other CF anywhere in the system and you can't play your old FA signing Springer there and he makes a ton of money so you can't let him get hurt

    He's not gonna extend here. It's as simple as that. I'm actually happy and surprised Atkins would be so proactive.

    Seems like best bang for your buck in the upper tier is Yamamoto. I agree
