  1. Guy's gonna make like 25m minimum next year in arb. We might non tender him lol
  2. BA podcast with Geoff Pontes who is good https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/blue-jays-top-prospects-podcast/#:~:text=Geoff%20Pontes%20and%20JJ%20Cooper,and%20weaknesses%20of%20the%20system. Tldr: a lot of meh
  3. Gotta find some talent first
  4. Abrams played 80 games in the minors as a high school draftee. Should have been in AA last year but had 65 homers and steals in the majors...
  5. Yankees do still have Soto Judge and Cole..
  6. What a nightmare offseason
  7. I thought bringing in Click was a ballsy move but that might have been Shapiro's doing. I just think Atkins is a guy who is just smart enough to react to where the sport is going but not someone who can be ahead of it. And he's good at the mlb moves right in front of him. Because he was an ex player after all. Not a true nerd. So I don't think he has that detached enough mentality where you can just question everything because you've never done it. "Well s*** why wouldn't you just take BP off a machine throwing 100. All pitchers throw 100." - nerd who never played
  8. The turnover in coaching signals that there isn't an effective system in place. Ross is literally admitting it by bringing all these different guys in. Now Mattingly seems like the top guy and we also added Hague from AAA. And we still have Martinez. Hudgens is long gone but he seemed like an idiot. This is all to say that it's great to have talent on the roster and it's also great if you can find it at the mlb level, which Ross does, but alot of the GMs job nowadays is to put literal scientists in place throughout every step of the organization. 70 FVs like Vlad can get beat nowadays by pitchers who are coached well. In the early 2000s he would rake with a plate of Doritos on his lap. Also I have a suspicion he raked during covid, not because of Buffalo, but because everyone's processes were disrupted and it was more backyard baseball.
  9. Ya but they hired Dave Hudgens to help him hit lol Alot of baseball is just scientists telling the players what to do. Set it and forget it is from 20 years ago
  10. RHB with no D or baserunning and likely to get hurt. Might get 2 wins for 20M out of IKF and Turner
  11. Dipoto is severely brain damaged when it comes to assembling a lineup
  12. Garcia is easily worth 1/6M. Wouldn't be in a rush to trade him
  13. It's dumb process to give that contract to a pitcher with that profile when you already have a top closer and Haders zone % is dropping and his Z contact is climbing There's far less margin for error at minute maid He obviously might still be good all 4 years, it's just dumb process that peak Astros would never do Edit all 5 years!
  14. Forfeiting 2nd rounder and intl money for Hader to give up soft pulled flyball homers in that park. Astros decline in full swing
  15. I would think his fastball would be good because it seems like an extreme outlier which stuff+ can never grasp
  16. He gets literally no run on the 4 seam and average is like 7 inches
  17. Alot of fastball traits are innate. His 4 seam is s*** because of his biomechanics. But sometimes those guys are born to throw sinkers not 4 seam. The clips I've seen of his sinker look pretty good.
  18. The biggest variable between this year and last is pitching health when you consider the delta between our rotation and the replacements which are likely sub 0 war. That's why we got Yariel and need him to be good
  19. No one likes his fastball. 10.5" IVB is pretty s***. It must be weird or deceptive or something like Steele but Steele gets more ride. He should probably throw a sinker. Thats what we'll probably get him to do. Hopefully we see him as a starter and he's not s***
  20. High contact hitters are just what you're left choosing from after the big boys sign
  21. Yes I thought that as well. But the Chapman market might come back to us in which case we have to jump back in
  22. Ya but paying someone 13m to hit vs RHP or giving 20M to Chapman for 4 wins with 6 win upside and just letting Biggio run 110 wrc is better IMO
  23. Just let Biggio DH against RHP until someone is banged up and needs the DH spot.
  24. Sign Chapman. Save DH for when Springer is banged up in week 2
  25. I would. There's no better way right now to just spend money and get 4 wins
