  1. So let me get this straight. This poor management team is still in charge. We went hard and heavy on the most coveted free agent (again) and not surprisingly struck out (again). More likely because the management sucks, the core sucks and the farm system sucks, we have no direction. We let go of Romano over 7mil and an arm injury but then resigned a worse pitcher at the same price who also has an arm issue? This team is offensively inept so we traded one of the very few prospects who can actually hit in order to add more defense to an already elite defensive team? Sounds about right for Shatkins and Co Oh yah and were likely about to lose our best home grown player as well
  2. Guys...we are 8.5 games back of the WC with 6 teams in front of us. Atkins is buying for sure
  3. Something positive. Were losing enough that dumbass Atkins cannot justify adding or standing pat at the deadline. Lets hope it keeps up that way. The worst thing this team can do at this point is hover around.500 near the 3rd wildcard spot.
  4. Jays with a chance to sweep a bottom feeder and get above .500 cough cough choke choke
  5. Nothing like a good old fashion ass poundin. Happy ive decided to just watch highlights after and not full games this season.
  6. Thats fair. But I also think because we live in the era where MLB crossed over from the old playoff to the new that we all know what it used to be like. Which means many fans dont necessarily believe that squeaking into the 3rd wildcard spot with 89 or 90 wins and getting bounced without winning a game against the actual good teams is any measure of success. Yea were not the A's, Rocks, or Angels, and we have won a lot more regular season games than in previous eras, but we were never a true playoff contender, world series contender. We were a mediocre team that squeaked into the expanded playoffs a few times and got rightfully bounced immediately.
  7. This team has done lots of regular season winning but hasn't actually won anything. At least when you suck you look forward to the prospects and the idea of building into something, but this team is built, has peaked, the farm system is barren and were on the way down, with a stubborn GM who I have feeling isn't going to do the right thing and blow it up because it probably means his job.
  8. It dont really matter what was left over from AA at this point. Its been 8 and half years since Atkins has taken over. Not including 2016 which was largely the team AA built we have 0 division titles, 0 playoff wins, the highest payroll the Bluejays have ever had, a bottom 5 farm system, a bottom 5 offense and a below .500 record at the start of June with basically every metric saying we are actually a worse club then our record indicates. Its s***, the situation is s***. The management has been s***. If not for the playoffs expanding significantly in the last few years we wouldn't have even made it to the wildcard round one time. Lets just face the facts, Atkins has been f***ing terrible.
  9. Kikuchi, Bo and Yimi would fetch decent returns in prospect form that might just lift our farm system out from the dredges of the bottom of the league. Offer Vlad a contract that is fair for both sides hope he accepts and hope his power returns. Accept that we are not going to make the playoffs for a couple years and try to do a soft rebuild. That my opinion but im definitely not an expert.
  10. but but, I thought beating the White Sox and Pirates meant this team was turning the corner, we might buy instead of sell and trading Vlad or Bo makes no sense at all. Haha. This team needs 18 wins a month to even compete for a wildcard spot at this point, the sell needs to happen and one of Vlad or Bo should absolutely be included. Probably Bo because he would fetch a larger return.
  11. Atkins plan- Keep the core together, hover around .500 for the foreseeable future. Tell the fans were "competing" and we "hope" to be able to sign Vlad and Bo long term. Then just let them explore FA ultimately losing them both. Never get any returns, never win anything and leave an absolute tire fire for the next GM.
  12. So what we have shown we can beat the worst team in the league 5/6 times and now theres nothing but rumors everywhere that we are looking to add. Please this has to be ******** media drama, unless we can nab 17 or 18 wins in June and continue that pace the rest of the way the season is a loss. Maybe Atkins is grasping at straws knowing he is on his last legs??
  13. What is it like 8th highest payroll and a bottom 5 farm system with a below .500 record almost 40 games in. This is a scary downward trajectory.
  14. The Phillies may as well be in a whole different league than us. Just blow it up all ready. What really really sucks though is that Atkins is likely gasping for his job here and will probably trade away any valuable prospects we have remaining to make some phantom wildcard run and try to preserve his head.
  15. Bro it started sinking last season. This is just the slow painful decent to the bottom.
  16. I know its only May and anything can happen. Really though this team looks like the exact same team from last year, but the offense is a little worse, and the pitching is not quite as good. I also think its probably 1 in a million that we repeat the pitching health we had last year. The AL competition is stiffer this year. We win anywhere from 75 to 85 games and miss the wildcard by a decent margin. Revenue, interest and profits are down for Rogers. Cause lets face it this is boring ass brand of baseball. Shatkins comes under serious heat. Vladdy going to FA without a contract becomes inevitable, people start calling about Bichette and we are starting over with a new GM within 3 years. Just my opinion hahaha!
  17. Its pretty sad that last year our one year veteran signing 35 year old Brandon Belt was our best hitter. Then this year its gonna be our one year veteran signing 40 year Justin Turner haha. What a sad offense.
  18. Lol I wouldn't. However if I know of 3 people. Others on this board are talking about not attending games this season when they normally would. People here are talking about not watching when they normally would. So if just on this board you have people not as interested how many fans in the whole of Canada are also not interested. Id imagine quite a few, to the point where they probably will not take in as much revenue this year as expected. However I highly doubt Rogers is worried as the Jays have massive fan base. If the team continues to decline though, and revenue continues to decline this could absolutely be the beginning of the end for Shatkins.
  19. I know of 3 people within my work group and friends group who have already cancelled their sportsnet streaming service because this looks like the exact same boring ass go through the motions team as last year but worse.
  20. Honestly if you look at the moves made its not hard to fathom. Assuming Vlad was going to be a shoe in hall of famer was mistake number 1. Letting players like Simien, LGJ and Teo get away while replacing them with Dalton f***ing Varsho and a reliever. Having a farm system in the bottom half of league that has failed to produce any young cheap MLB talent, besides maybe Schneider and Clement this year. Although Clement was a castoff from the A's not even a Bluejays farm guy lol. Your best pitching prospect Pearson flopping, then trading away your other best prospect Moreno , and your other best pitching prospect Manoah was never even that good according the analytics nerds. Lets just hope Tiedmann actually pans out.
  21. Yankees lineup = long, Stanton 5th crushes HR Bluejays lineup = short, Biggio 5th crushes strikeout Atkins prioritize outfield defense over offense, cant defend outfield when ball goes over fence very simple
  22. Theres the difference between the Yanks and the Bluejays lineup. Outfield defense didn't help there
  23. Lol the Yankees lineup is just ridiculously long, and we have Kirk at cleanup. It seems so lopsided
  24. Werent all the real analytic nerds saying all along that Manoahs really good season seemed like a complete fluke?
  25. Agreed, its the decisive point I think where a lot of the fanbase who were on Shatkins side turned real quick. LGJ has become an even better hitter than he was here, plus we traded the number 1 catching prospect in the league arguably a top 3 position in all baseball. And he looks great in ARI. While we got...Varsho. An excellent outfield defender with a pool noodle bat. I also think losing LGJ and Teo had an effect on the "Barrio" that is not a measurable stat. Something just clicked when they we here that offense was fearsome.
