  1. Where was he supposed to go? He slid right into Sanchez’s leg with no lane to the plate. And Sanchez didn’t have the tag when he made contact.
  2. Never mind. Yea it looked like he had no chance to get to the plate.
  3. Is my stream behind and he’s out?
  4. It looked like he had genuinely no chance of getting to the plate there.
  5. Lots of pitchers these days get set up middle middle on tons of pitches and the stuff is supposed to take it to the edge. You see it more and more.
  6. I do feel like we have finer margins than most teams that pursue that strategy but with us it might be a health thing. I don’t think our bullpen is anywhere near good enough that it makes sense to pull gausman from a baseball pov.
  7. This dude wouldn’t even be the setup guy on some teams. Our bullpen is so underwhelming.
  8. Romano very rarely has typical closer overpowering stuff.
  9. Man, if you can’t strike people out you can’t walk people.
  10. Some draftee debuts for Dunedin today. Looked at some of the stat cast data. Peyton Williams the first baseman hit one 108mph. Brock one of our reliever picks sat 96.
  11. We don’t actually have much lefty depth
  12. I know logically that swing and miss isn’t everything and it’s a winning strategy to pitch to a ton of contact or whatever. It sure feels like in my gut that most of the time we play a good team that they have a much easier time against our pen than against theirs when the game is close.
  13. I mean, he’s older than Julio right now. Julio is the next him. Does this guy have historical stats so we can see his hits and misses?
  14. This is completely unfair because it all averages out and they are good players.,, but if it’s it a big at bat and I need a competitive at bat… i dread Teo and Bo coming up.
  15. Robberse with a pretty good first outing back as well, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 8k in 5 innings. Did give up a homer. He’s a guy I really didn’t want to see go at the deadline.
  16. Man, if Tieddeman shoves in double A, we could see him reasonably early next year.
  17. Dude, if I have it in my power to make one pathetic little mental midget out there happy, you know what… that’s what I want to do. I feel like I’m putting good out into the world. I’ll do it just for you. It’s a pretty small ask, and I feel like you need this one.
  18. I mean, if I was the kind of f***ing mental midget where that bothered me, I’d be kind of pissed i guess. I don’t consider it cheerleading to point out things that are true. I’m sorry it offended you. I’ll regulate what true things I say in future. Sorry about that.
  19. Where do you hear stuff like that?
  20. f*** off. Seriously, I can’t deal with this constant ******** from fan boys. Generally, the Rays do things really well so it makes sense to compare things we do to them. If you want to strip all nuance from anything I say and present it in that manner, then f*** off. These arguments are always so f***ing dumb. Yes, swing away 3-0 one on nobody out with a pitcher who can’t find the zone and with an umpire who is calling a true tight zone because we are ‘aggressive’ and we have to do that to keep our guys happy. That’s dumb team s***. If we are willingly doing dumb team s***, I’ll compare us to a smart team if I f***ing want to. It’s probably just dumb manager s***. I doubt our front office was super happy with that decision. Also, if you strip away the slant from what you are saying lol… Is Rays pitching dev better? Yes. Do the Rays have better in game strategy? Yes. Do the best franchises in baseball tend to hire ex Rays guys? Yes. Those things are all f***ing true. How are you arguing against things that are true? You hate truth? Trading guys at peak value is nuanced. If it’s Danny jansen, yes. If it’s vlad, no. It’s not just the rays that do that. If we are doing dumb s***, I’m going to say ‘let’s not do dumb s***, let’s do smart s***, like the rays’. I’ll tell you what though, I’ll sub in the astros just for you.
  21. The trigger will be the Jansen/Moreno/Kirk situation. Whatever comes out of that could cascade.
  22. I’m not sure if I see teo or gurriel getting traded. Even if springer moves to RF, I don’t see a true regular everyday CF on the roster (merrifield got like 8 starts there for KC this year) and a good defensive CF who can hit will not be available in FA and is expensive to trade for. Montgomery got Bader for example which is a pretty steep price. Not only that but we will need the at bats in the outfield anyway. Springer doesn’t play quite often. I think if we wanted to trade teo or gurriel, we’d need to make a bigger trade first to get a true CF. Possibly using Moreno or Jansen. I see trading Teo from a roster management pov. We lose control of him soon and we prob can’t afford to give him a real deal. But I don’t think this front office does that. They will prob just QO him.
  23. I feel like there has to be a good reason for the bullpen usage even in a blowout. It doesn’t look super rational but there must be a reason.
