Teo and Bo have really uncompetitive at bats quite often. They are also good players overall. Those things aren’t really mutually exclusive.
I’m not even sure how much teams even factor it into analysis. Overall production probably trumps everything.
At the end of the day, every pitcher misses their spots and both those guys can square up a mistake very well. If a pitcher doesn’t miss their spots, they can be easy outs as they will swing at pitches they shouldn’t swing at on or off the plate.
Psychologically, I don’t want to see teo or Bo come up in big spots usually. Logically, that’s idiotic but there is something really deflating about a really bad at bat. But at the end of the day overall that probably doesn’t matter. I also, could be wrong about how often that happens. Maybe I just remember their bad at bats more.
One of my personal ‘ask a front office questions’ is this something that front offices even think about at all in a serious way. I’d guess not.
