  1. I think you do what Laika said, keep them but let them go or QO them at free agency. You could prob QO teo is he hits like this next year. Rely on your ability to develop players for their replacements.
  2. Also, why it seems very unlikely that he’d be the trade piece this off-season. His WAR production would be hard to replace in free agency.
  3. Teo and Bo have really uncompetitive at bats quite often. They are also good players overall. Those things aren’t really mutually exclusive. I’m not even sure how much teams even factor it into analysis. Overall production probably trumps everything. At the end of the day, every pitcher misses their spots and both those guys can square up a mistake very well. If a pitcher doesn’t miss their spots, they can be easy outs as they will swing at pitches they shouldn’t swing at on or off the plate. Psychologically, I don’t want to see teo or Bo come up in big spots usually. Logically, that’s idiotic but there is something really deflating about a really bad at bat. But at the end of the day overall that probably doesn’t matter. I also, could be wrong about how often that happens. Maybe I just remember their bad at bats more. One of my personal ‘ask a front office questions’ is this something that front offices even think about at all in a serious way. I’d guess not.
  4. He’s only been in charge for two years.
  5. The astros and Red Sox got click and bloom of the triumvirate they had going. Maybe we could get Neander. He just signed a big extension, though.
  6. It’s because they sound smart. Atkins talks about control and cost control and it sounds smart even though it’s actually dumb. The astros aren’t giving grichuk that contract because no one with any f***ing sense thinks that Randal f***ing grichuk requires cost control. The upside is that you can still win and be like this. I feel like Cleveland don’t always do the smart things but they are amazing at dev. Maybe with our pitching lab and so on, we could go that way too. We could have an amazing pen next year just with some guys who came through our own system. That’s just a harder road.
  7. Rips into them for what? Vlad didn’t do enough to add relievers at the deadline? 4 and 5 runs should be enough to win one game. I’d be careful about ripping into the hitters at least in case they tell him to go f*** himself.
  8. Unlucky vlad.
  9. I would say that this front office hasn’t really proved anything considering our payroll and the amount of time they’ve been in charge. The jury is out on most things. I’d say they’ve proven they can scout and develop a type of hitter. They’ve also shown that they aren’t great at putting together bullpens… or just downright bad at it. Other than that, they’ve proven nothing. Nationals level front office is a valid and possible outcome.
  10. That’s worked for a lot of teams lol. It’s hilarious that you think that’s a burn. Yes, that would probably be a good idea. You are correct.
  11. They’ll fire Schneider before they fire walker,
  12. Hyperbole! They won a World Series. That would be a good result. We’ve made the playoffs once in a full season and that was 6 years ago. This is playoff trip number 2 coming up.
  13. I don’t know. There apparently is stuff happening in the minors pitching wise but they are not even in the f***ing vicinity of elite when it comes to putting together bullpens at the major league level. I don’t care what the cheerleaders on here say. That’s a skill and we aren’t good at it.
  14. The nationals had a bad pen in 2019 so I guess there is hope. It worries me that we have a nationals level front office though..
  15. Man, it’s like an actual attempt to groove it in the perfect place for a left hander to hit it out.
  16. Inability to take that second pitch pretty much ever is a real Achilles heel. You can always get to strike three by just jamming him and he will always swing. Bo has that problem too. Both great hitters but exploitable.
  17. Pinch runner might be a good idea now.
  18. Great play Lourdes.
  19. Wonder if Pop will still pitch. Haven’t got to see him yet.
  20. I wonder how’s it going to work numbers wise. The only easy option or cut is Thornton. All the other guys with options are pretty essential.
  21. Let’s go rain.
  22. Bo!!!! Got the lead in time for the rain! f*** yea!!
  23. Hyde makes super quick decisive hooks. Obviously that’s not everything to being a manager but it’s smart.
  24. Manoah is an absolute gamer even when he doesn’t have his best stuff or close to it.
  25. Our approach seems to get worse the worse the pitcher is. It’s not acceptable to swing at that pitch. Maybe our famously player centric philosophy isn’t working in that regard.
