  1. https://theprovince.com/sports/baseball/vancouver-canadians-sem-robberse-gets-lift-from-lab-rat-checkup-with-blue-jays Thought this was kind of interesting. Robberse talking about his trip to pitching lab.
  2. Yea, good point. A playoff bullpen includes starters and lops off innings from the worst guys. I still see in season swinging strike rate as a good indicator that a team is good at the ‘pitching thing’ or at least they have been good for a while. You need to have a pretty deep strike throwing pen to be good at this over an entire season and that requires org depth.
  3. I found this interesting because it goes against everything I believe lol. Although I still think that swing and miss is important in the regular season but the playoffs is a crap shoot where all you need is for your bullpen to get hot (and lucky). Or maybe swing and miss isn’t that important?
  4. Pardinho is going to high A.
  5. I think that’s because there is much more measurable ways to figure out how good someone’s stuff is.
  6. The best thing about America is the variety of climate and the large amount of towns/cities for basically every taste. Canada kind of sucks in that regard.
  7. I grew up on a farm. I know where meat comes from, lol.
  8. Code switching is key everywhere. I’m an immigrant and absolutely don’t perfectly fit into the Vancouver state of mind either. You need to be able to relate to everyone even if you think that they are super hippie dippie or the opposite. Also, I’ve never been someone who thinks person is ‘A’ so therefore they are evil. I’ve met tons of people who are absolutely racist but also not evil people, even to people of other races. It’s a complicated topic but also something people don’t talk about enough.
  9. It’s also somewhere in the middle. Some people want to never say anything bad about our prospects until they leave. I still like Frasso. Great stuff and I’m not as concerned with age to level with pitchers. He’s also an A ball pitcher so he’s a lotto ticket. All those things can be true.
  10. Every American state is largely the same. Pretty much every one has great cities and towns as options to live in, and then they have a large amount of insane people living outside. Same deal for all of them. Rural Washington state is largely the same as rural Georgia or Florida. The only differentiator is climate. I like it really hot so I’m a fan of Arizona especially.
  11. Thank god the rays don’t have money. Such a well run team. Happy to get a split.
  12. I’m always terrified that Kikuchi will blow up first time there is adversity.
  13. This to me more than the frasso deal is one where we simply traded guys who we don’t really rate. If they thought Castillo was good, he’d still be here because we absolutely have a need for depth starting pitchers. They didn’t even protect Taylor in the last rule 5. It just seemed like we dealt what we considered meh pieces here.
  14. B+ for me. All the moves felt pretty logical.
  15. Couldn’t watch again but man that feels like a massive win. Split at worst against Tampa was a must.
  16. I agree with that. They probably don’t see him as a star or at least anything less than a very small percentage chance of that. I will say for Frasso that he is, if my memory is correct, coming off TJ. Which explains why he is down so low.
  17. There is prob a 40 man aspect to this. They want more pitchers that are farther away.
  18. I like this trade honestly. Controllable starting pitching is expensive. It just shows how good the dodgers are too. They know they can always make more whites, and Frasso represents more upside. I don’t really understand the rationale that this means the FO is down on Frasso. They had to give something good up to get this done.
  19. I don’t love selling groshans so low but you do what you have to do. Really hope that our pitching dev revolution in the low minors is real because the price of pitching at the deadline is getting awfully expensive.
  20. I guess on a zero dollar contract effectively, he’s an asset they can trade later.
  21. Any starters on market who have pitched out of the pen before in the playoffs? Maybe split the difference.
  22. It would have been nice if the yanks had given up more but I’m not afraid of montas at all.
  23. Zimmer is perfect for the playoffs.
  24. The dodgers are one of the teams with nothing to worry about in that department.
  25. Castillo might be as good but he’s not nowhere near as highly rated by most prospect sites.
