  1. We are still only two runs down. If the rain stays away, we could win this.
  2. I’ll try not to use an obscure stat like FIP in future. Although Washington being bad does give me hope. Maybe we can get lucky in the playoffs.
  3. Apparently rain is coming in so let’s make sure we don’t finish the 5th losing.
  4. We are ten games above 500 even if we lose.
  5. We have the 26th pen by FIP this year. Maybe one of those pens was that bad but it seems unlikely.
  6. I don’t think they were all great pens during the regular season. But yea, we have what a really below average pen which seems tough. I can’t imagine us taking that big a leap in the playoffs but I might be underestimating luck.
  7. There’s a definite element of bad luck to the amount of double plays we hit into.
  8. I have no idea. Probably like 2018 or something.
  9. Thank god Zimmer is still here. I really enjoyed having a wee fat fella like Kirk and a guy who looks like lurch from the Adam’s family on the same team.
  10. There does seem to be a player type who is like that. But, yea it’s prob not predictive.
  11. I might be remembering wrong but I feel like for the Red Sox when he started for them, he’d have terrible stretches and really good stretches and even out to below average. I can see the upside of getting a role player who has the upside to get white hot though.. especially over Zimmer.
  12. It’s a defensive downgrade and a base running push. Zimmer did very little on the bases but does have speed. I doubt Bradley is as good in CF as Zimmer. JBJ has has white hot hitting stretches though. Put one of them in the playoffs and it could be big.
  13. I think id prefer Zimmer for that role. JBJ can get insanely hot though…
  14. Teams already do that. Where do you think the dodgers president came from? Lol. And the brewers… and the red sox CBO … you can go on and f***ing on in that direction if you want.. they are everywhere. 3 of the last 4 teams in last years playoffs. I didn’t say they should have hired a different pitching coach. Im saying the fact they didn’t even though they literally came from the Cleveland f***ing Indians probably means they have a ton of faith in Pete Walker. Read more closely.
  15. I always thought it was weird that they kept Pete walker on. They came from one of the 2/3 best pitching dev orgs in baseball and just kept the old pitching coach. They must rate him extremely highly. So, maybe the problem is the pitchers they are picking.
  16. A is the only option. If it doesn’t work out next year, try him in the pen. If that doesn’t work, cut him. I don’t get how anyone in their right mind would make a medium sized bet on someone with his body language. That would terrify me, but maybe it made him cheaper.
  17. Lol, 80% of what I say about Bo on here is criticism. It looked hit sharply on my phone, maybe it wasn’t. I will say that I want Bo to swing at that pitch every f***ing time. That easily could have been the best pitch to hit and he would swing thought a splitter.
  18. Bo was unlucky there. Hit it pretty hard. The pitcher was literally insane to give him a first pitch strike. That pitch was basically what I was praying for. Bo just got unlucky.
  19. It’s not even original. It’s so dumb lol.
  20. This is pretty unwarranted. As an aside, like how fast Hyde goes to the hook. Doesn’t always work out but I think it’s good process. Bautista will be tough.
  21. So, we are good against good righties that don’t get crushed by lefties but bad against bad righties who do get crushed by lefties? How did you even break that down? Like what splits did you look up?
  22. Aren’t we really good against righties?
  23. I have always thought that we have the ability to go cold on offense quite often because we don’t have enough guys who will just take balls (and borderline ones early) consistently. They get too eager to hit against bad pitchers especially. No real evidence for that but it’s noticeable to me.
  24. What I don’t get about Kikuchi … Like, I’m Ross Atkins.. the underlying numbers metrics look interesting, the dev team thinks they could make some changes and he could be a lot better. But then I look at a few of his games and I see this nervous looking fidgety mess and I think yea THIS is the guy I want to partially bet my future on. This guy. Surely even if you are a complete true believer in analytics, you still don’t want to give someone with the body language of a 12 year old who doesn’t want to give a speech that much f***ing money. How does that happen lol.
  25. I’m this big ball park, going inside to a bunch of guys who are literally incapable of taking pitches seems like a pretty good strategy. Hopefully he misses on a few.
