  1. I think just Vladdy, Bo and Swanson left for arb
  2. I must be on glue. I thought the Padres inked Soto to an extension after they traded for him.
  3. I haven't dug into the numbers but I'm pretty sure Gausman got f***ed by the Jays offense as well as the defense. Seemed like they really struggled to score runs for the guy for some reason.
  4. Not necessarily. Depends on his work ethic. I don't know Vladdy or what he's like or what his habits are. The Jays FO should have a pretty good idea whether or not he'll work his ass off to stay in shape or if he's likely to let himself go after getting that juicy contract. It would also depend on what kind of offers you can get if you were to shop him.
  5. I don't think anyone is saying Vlad will quit playing baseball, what is concerning is whether or not he will stay in some semblance of shape, well some shape other than round that is. The guy has zero metabolism in his early 20's. Imagine him trying to be worth $30+ million per season wen he's waddling around at 300lbs + in his late 20's early 30's
  6. They might just be planning on using Kirk/Jansen 50/50 to keep them both as fresh as possible, and instead of DHing guys like Kirk/Vladdy/Springer on their days off from the field, maybe they just give them an actual day off.
  7. 1.3 fWAR from a bench player making near league minimum is f***ing awesome. Especially when he provides above average offensive & defensive value as well as playing multiple positions.
  8. I voted about the same. If Vlad goes back to being a ~160 wRC+ / 6+ fWAR player it will be better. I think the bench is better already, and I think they will still add another OF with a RHB which will improve it even more.
  9. If by some chance Thompson bumps Kikuchi from the 5th starter spot, I would expect Kikuchi to move to the bullpen considering how good he looked there last season couple with the fact that the jays only have one MLB lefty reliever.
  10. Why DFA Merryweather instead of Thornton?
  11. Solid depth with options to have in Buffalo.
  12. I'm a little surprised we're this deep into the off season with only Mayza as a left handed bullpen arm.
  13. Man, a healthy Belt could just mash in Rogers. Might as well sign another starter, outfielder and bullpen arm now that we're into luxury tax territory.
  14. Hmmm A first baseman? Weird signing IMO
  15. Yeah, so if a team signs Bauer they could potentially get a pitcher who pitches like an ace for league minimum. I mean if the Jays signed him (they won't) he could potentially lead their rotation in fWAR,. But either way, he's probably going to be very good value for league minimum. That's all I was saying before Jim came along and decided to argue semantics haha
  16. I suppose you could, but that would be f***ing idiotic. At least with Bauer, he's actually proven to be an ace pitcher in the past.
  17. Yeah, that's why I used the word "potential" Jim Either way, he's probably going to be incredible value for league minimum.
  18. Well, the Jays clearly won't take advantage of adding a potential ace to their rotation for league minimum. Hopefully none of their direct competition take advantage of this rare opportunity either.
  19. Can Bauer only sign for league minimum once he's a free agent? That can't be right can it?
  20. Nice. Now sign Alex Reyes. Get a huge bucket of gas throwing mud to toss at the wall.
  21. Keep an extra bullpen arm maybe?
  22. With Springer, Varsho and KK seemingly set as the OF starters, and all three of Espinal, Merrifield and Biggio on the roster, do we think the Jays are still looking to add another OFer? I'd expect Whit to split time between 2B and the OF and I'd also expect Biggio to get some OF starts along with 2B and 1B, while Espinal will get some time at 2B, SS and 3B. Barger as an injury replacement for SS, 3B and Lukes as the defacto 6th OFer.
  23. What year is it now? General Blue Jays Discussion (2023) Lock this one up IMO, it's not 2022 anymore.
  24. Would be kind of like getting Gurriel back, if he were left handed and still hit HR's Not a bad option depending on the cost to acquire I guess, just sucks that he's kind of a tire fire defensively.
