    For the record I didn't once say that Hoffman sucks and can't be trusted, and as far as I can see I'm the only one in here wishing they hadn't traded him. Or at least I'm the one bringing him up as I watch the bullpen get stretched to it's limits. I also said "it is what it is" and that I hope Dasan Hill amounts to something, so I'd hardly call it "whining". But, whatever floats your boat I guess.

    Yeah I realize that, but the guy had been dominant for nearly three months, wasn't a pending free agent, and losing him severely weakened the Jays bullpen given the lackluster options they have to replace his innings. Anyways, what's done is done. I just hope the stud pitching prospect they got makes me eat my words sometime in the next 3-4 years.

    Sure would be nice if they had better relief arms to step in than Estrada, Waldron and Little if they were going to trade Hoffman while they try to claw their way back into a playoff spot.

    Interesting. I wonder what the plan was for Arrighetti then? Since he was due back sooner rather than later. Apparently he got pulled from his latest rehab start though with some sort of injury, so not sure on his timeline anymore.

    I sure hope Dasan Hill turns into something because IMO weakening the bullpen by trading Hoffman wasn't the smartest move at this stage. They were at the point with Miles being in the pen more that they had developed a nice little four headed late inning, high leverage BP monster with Miles, Hoffman, Rogers and Varland. Could have eased Little in more gradually that way too.

    Boss Atkins just shouldering the blame like a man's man despite loading this team up 8 SP's deep last winter, bringing back 90% of the #1 offense & defense in baseball from last season and adding Okamoto to it.

    The funniest (saddest) thing about this season is that even with all the pitching injuries and Kirk/Springer early injuries if the offense would have just went from top 2 or 3 to middle of the pack, they'd probably be in a wild card spot. But no, it had to go from top 2 or 3 to pretty much the worst offense in baseball. Unreal.

    It's just completely and utterly ridiculous how every time there might be a little bit of light shining through, something immediately happens to make everything dark again. Jays get a good start from Scherzer off the IL, Biebs makes his 4th good start in 5 games, jays then shore up the rotation at the deadline by adding Soriano and Arrighetti, very next day Trey Yesavage hurts himself warming up. This season is a complete tire fire. never ends this ********.

    I'm not saying he is an ace. I'm saying it'd be nice if the Jays could find more to unlock with him and turn him into an ace, or at least a very good #1. This is a pitcher who had a 3 WAR season already and is on his way to another this year possibly. Better framers, better pitch mix, better D behind him and maybe he becomes a 5 WAR starter? Maybe...and a 5 WAR starter would make him an ace.

    That's awesome to read. It'd be nice to start piling up ace SPs in their prime. I know it's unlikely, but it'd be incredible to land Skubal as a free agent (he's probably forever a Dodger now, if he wasn't going to be already) but you never know, the FO sold Cease on their vision for him. Imagine going into the next season (whenever it starts) with Cease, Skubal, Soriano and Yesavage as your top 4 guys.

    Also, I wonder what the plan is for Taillon now? The guy has been awful this year and then they added Soriano. They also added Arrighetti, although he is currently on the 15 day IL. Cease Sherzer Bieber Yesavage Soriano Plus Arrighetti at some point. No need for Taillon now.

    Hopefully Little has figured things out. He has the stuff to be an absolute dominant lefty reliever. Might get a Brett Cecil like stretch out of him for a couple seasons if we're lucky. Biebs bent but didn't break. I'm actually kind of hoping they extend him at some point. I don't think he's cooked and he seems to love being a Blue jay.

    With the trades today, I don't think the Jays have thrown in the towel on the season so I'm not surprised they held onto Springer. He's been the hottest hitter the last month and they need someone to spark this offense because the pitching is more than good enough to put a solid late season run together. Especially since they kept Scherzer and Bieber who have had tough years obviously, but are more than capable of putting it all together for the last two months. I am surprised they weakened the bullpen by trading Hoffman, but Miles is now in the pen and Little has looked better recently.

    Pena slap hitting MIF Hill looks intereting. 20 year old starter already in A+ and has swing and miss for days. I get Hoffman has a Stigma with Jays fans, but not a huge fan of trading him. Decent enough return though I guess

    Think so? I can't see it. He's basically been the Jays 4th or 5th best pitcher all season. If he doesn't start in the rotation he's probably the long man out of the pen.

    Starting to wonder if they just hold on to Springer. He's been the hottest hitter for the last month, and I doubt the returns they are being offered are moving any sort of needle. Varsho as well, given that they can just QO him. Essentially swapped out Gausman for Soriano, that's basically a slight upgrade this season and potentially a bigger upgrade the next two seasons.
