    The Toronto Blue Jays have signed two non-drafted free agents: • C Nicolas Deschamps, a 5-11, 190 lb. left-handed hitter from Quebec City, QC, who played last season for TNXL Academy in Florida. • C/INF Andres Sosa, a 5-11, 210 lb. right-handed hitter from Hermosillo, Mexico, who played at Dallas Baptist University.

    Yeah, Smith must not be seen as a utility guy by the org, although a guy going from 3B to 2B isn/t that crazy, especially when he's as athletic as Smith appears to be. The only way I can see Valera getting less starts is if the FO DFA him and take him away from Montoyo like they did with Panik.

    It's really confusing. Smith just turned 25 a month and a half ago. It's his first crack at AAA, he has a .950 OPS and a 147 wRC+ He's got 19 HR's / 16 SB's (19 tries) / 4 triples and apparently he also has a decent glove. Ah well, just keep raking Kevin. You'll get your shot. In the meantime hopefully Lopez does well with his call up. The more studs the Jays have the better.

    Wow. Smith must be wondering what more he has to do to earn a call up. Watches Lopez come up from AA and in less than a month go straight to the bigs with lesser production.

    Yeah. Moreno is a non starter for me. He likely has his MLB debut sometime next season and makes an impact. Agreed that's what they ask for though.

    Hopefully Biggio plus plus can get the Jays Jose Ramirez this off season. Although I doubt Cleveland trades him on such a team friendly deal unless the plus plus are very painful for the Jays.

    Sure it'd be great if the Jays scored more runs from innings 7-9 It'd be better if their bullpen wasn't injured and/or garbage all the time too. Hopefully next season the Jays FO doesn't put all their eggs in a Yates and Merryweather shaped basket. Hopefully BP arms like that will just be "found money" to add to their stable of stud arms if they actually manage to stay healthy.

    Smith got pulled from a game a little while ago after a collision, then he missed one game IIRC, since then he'd been kind of cold at the plate. Nice to see him have a big game again yesterday. I really wish they'd call him up and punt Valera. Let's see what he's got. I doubt he's going to be an impact player right out of the gate, but I'd rather see them test out the 25 year old prospect over the 30 year old journeyman.

    Murphy sucks but so does Hand. Can't believe our FO chipped away at our log jam of catching for a couple months of Hand walking off his own team. Literally.

    Sucks seeing highlights of guys like Pearson and Merryweather dominating with their electric stuff and having to temper your expectations because they're a couple of band aids that are one tweak away from spending 3 or 4 months on the IL. Meanwhile we have to watch f***ing useless shitwads like Hand walk in winning runs on 4 pitches.

    Jays are 12-4 in their last 16 games. If they can do that over the next 16 games they will only need .500 to get to 90 wins. For the rest of the season: 10 games vs Baltimore 6 games vs Minny 6 games vs Detroit 2 games vs Washington Might be greedy but it sure would be nice to win 20 of those 24 games.

    Oh yeah, absolutely. I just don't think they're as good as their record or run differential would indicate.

    The Jays have something like a 34-37 record against teams that are .500 or better. The White Sox haven't even played 34 games total against teams that are .500 or better. Good team sure, but most certainly propped up by playing in a weak ass division.

    With Mayza on the IL and Borucki sucking bad enough to get sent down, they need to get Hand going. No problem with letting him work out the kinks in a 10-2 game.

    I see both Kyle Johnston and Fitz Stadler were promoted to AAA. Johnston has been steady eddy all season, and after a rough start Stadler really turned it around.

    Hopefully Gurriel bounces back next season, Springer and Teo continue to tear it up, and Grich is regulated to 4th OF duties. Also, hopefully Moreno gets to the show next season and splits catching/DH with Kirk so Grichuk is strictly a bench player.

    Who would have more value in a trade right now between Smith and Biggio?

    I can't wait for the Kirk/Moreno catching tandem. At least I hope that's where we're headed.
