  1. AA is lucky the rest of his division is a f***ing steaming pile of monkey s***, or else he wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs this year, never mind going to the world series.
  2. You definitely give Matz the QO. It's a no brainer in my opinion. Worst case scenario would be you get Matz for 1 more year at $18 million. While he's not worth that much for one year, it's only one year and as of right now the Jays are thin on starting pitching. I'd rather the Jays risk paying him $6-8 million more than he's worth for one year than risk losing him with no compensation pick awarded.
  3. If the Jays are going to go after Ramirez this off season, might as well swing for the fences and try to get Bieber too. If Cleveland deals Ramirez, they might as well go into a full on rebuild. It would gut the farm system, but you'd have a few years to replenish it while being a massive threat for multiple world series titles. C - Kirk / Jansen 1B - Vladdy 2B - Biggio 3B - Ramirez SS - Bo LF - Gurriel CF - Springer RF - Teo DH - FA (Schwarber?) B - Espinal B - Kirk / Jansen B - Grichuk B - Valera / Lopez ------ SP - Bieber SP - Berrios SP - Ryu SP - Manoah SP - Stripling / Hatch / FA (Syndergaard, Gray, Matz?) CL - Romano SU - FA (Iglesias, McHugh?) SU - FA (Neris, Givens?) RP - Mayza RP - Cimber RP - Richards RP - Merryweather RP - Borucki
  4. Steven Matz 1 x $18M (QO) Jon Gray 1 x $15M Noah Syndergaard 1 x $25M Berrios Gray Syndergaard Ryu Manoah Matz Pearson Stripling Pretty deep starting pitching and no long term big money commitments. (Except Berrios who I hope they extend this off season)
  5. You're talking about tipping 5% like it doesn't make you a cheap ass motherf***er.
  6. I can't wait to watch this off season play out. I believe that even without any signings or trades they already have a solid team. But, they obviously won't stand pat. They will be in on so many things and they have payroll room to make big signings, they also have prospect capital to make big trades. There are several different ways they can try to go.
  7. Good point. Let's hope it happens. That'd be a game changer.
  8. Jose Ramirez would fit this roster so perfectly. 3rd base, switch hitter, high OBP, high OPS.... Just don't see any way Cleveland moves him without a massive, massive overpay considering his contract. And then, even if they do they likely find an NL team to send him to instead of potential wild card competition.
  9. In no way did I want to see the Jays trade Kirk, but then Jansen had a nice turnaround. He may be alright after all. Like I proposed earlier in this thread, I could see them packaging Kirk with Pearson for a good starting pitcher with some control. It'd be a way to fast forward Pearson's development. I suggested German Marquez. Do that, then also land a good FA pitcher and the rotation would be a juggernaut for many years. Especially with a Berrios extension. Berrios *Marquez* (example) *Stroman* (example) Ryu Manoah
  10. Who's better, Berrios or Marquez? Which set of prospects is better, Martin/SWR or Kirk/Pearson? Of course I guess you have to consider that Marquez contract right now is way better than Berrios contract was when the Jays acquired him, because of term.
  11. Hmmm, not an "ace" so to speak, but very good and belongs at or near the top of a rotation. Pretty much a lock for 3-5 WAR.
  12. Thank you. I see Marquez as a premium starting pitcher and he's on a pretty sweet deal for 3 more seasons. You try to sign a pitcher in free agency of that quality it's going to cost 20-25 million per year for probably way too many years. Get a pitcher like that and you can afford to let go of Pearson, and as everyone knows catcher is a position of great depth so you can afford to let Kirk go as well.
  13. Marquez has 17 career WAR at 26 years old, Matz has 9 career WAR at 30 years old. Plus Marquez has 3 more years of control on a contract with team friendly options. And yes to the poster that asked, including Grichuk as a salary dump was part of the deal and why I gave up as much as I gave up in the proposal.
  14. Grichuk, Kirk and Pearson for German Marquez Too much? Too little? Jays could roll with Jansen/Mcguire until Moreno is ready for a call up.
  15. Rasiel Iglesias / 2.8 WAR / 13.2 K/9 Hector Neris / 1.2 WAR / 11.4 K/9 Yimi Garcia / 0.5 WAR / 9.4 K/9 Mychal Givens / 1.5 WAR / 9.5 K/9 Collin Mchugh / 1.9 WAR / 10.9 K/9 Kendall Graveman / 2.1 WAR / 9.8 K/9 Ryan Tepera / 1.8 WAR / 10.9 K/9 Just a few of the intriguing relievers on the FA market this off season. Hopefully leave some payroll room to pick up a couple of these types.
  16. Well they were 4 games above .500 and 5 games out of a wild card spot this year and still bought, so definitely more than that to be sellers I guess. If they're more than 5 games out of a wild card by the deadline next season they will have had to have had a terrible off season and/or a crap ton of things go wrong during the season. Hopefully we don't have to find out the answer to your question
  17. Lol. Well yeah, the reason they gave up those prospects to get him was because he's a good pitcher. Both go hand in hand. Still young, talented and durable. They've got to get him signed this off season.
  18. Hopefully they don't have to find out because they get him signed to a long term extension this off season. Have to pay the man when you give up two high end prospects to get him.
  19. Yeah, Yates has to come cheap for sure. Sure as hell don't want to have to rely on him, just try to get him on a bargain and if he works out then it's just a bonus.
  20. Should the Jays go after Rasiel Iglesias? Or is that too risky pouring that much money into one pen arm? He's an elite closer though, and it'd be nice to have some insurance on that front. Probably going cost what...$15 million per on a multi year deal? Sign Iglesias, roll the dice on Yates again and between those two, Romano, Mayza and Merryweather you are building a potentially elite collection of high leverage bat missers.
  21. I know we have Bo at SS, but I still reaaaaaaally hope the Jays can get their hooks into Correa somehow. Would make the money tight when they try to extend core pieces in the future, but still better than giving up the assets it would take to get Ramirez. Since the Jays already have Berrios, Manoah, Ryu at the top end and Stripling, Pearson and Hatch for depth, I wonder if they stay away from the big, longer term pitching contracts this off season and go dumpster diving to find the next "Ray" or "Matz" instead? I imagine Pete Walker and the FO have a long list of SP's they think they should target and fix.
  22. Is Rodon for real? What is his worth? 6 x $25 million? More? Syndergaard for 1 x $20 million? Rodon Berrios Syndergaard Ryu Manoah Would probably the best rotation in MLB on paper no?
  23. Goddamn, those would have been solid adds and neither would have been rentals. I Wonder if those will be revisited or if they will stay on the back burner now that the Jays can try to fill those holes via free agency and save the acquisition cost.
  24. It's a hell of an improvement from what he did in 2020. Since the Jays traded for him during 2020 I'm assuming they thought they could get him back on track and he started to show signs of that for an extended stretch of games. . And yes, he got hot for 12 starts (3.83 ERA) and then got f***ing injured. So it's not like it was a random smattering of starts and then he turned to s*** again. We'll see what he does next season.
  25. The jury isn't out on most of those guys. Hell, the jury isn't really out on ANY of them to be honest. And every single one of those guys on that list battled injuries this year, except maybe Thornton. Also, Stripling was just fine this year. Once he settled in he had a stretch of 12 starts from June to August where he was putting up numbers very similar to his LA days and then he got injured and missed a month. When he came back his spot in the rotation was gone and he only got a few more innings in relief.
