  1. Love Freddie, but 6 years and $25 million per for a 32 year old 1B is not a great idea What do you do if Vladdy can't handle 3B?
  2. If the Jays think they can get a LH outfield bat like Schwarber, Conforto or Rosario, maybe they can use Gurriel as trade bait? Something like Gurriel, Espinal, Van Eyk for Chapman and Manaea or Bassitt maybe?
  3. The Jays should also do a procedure on Pearson where they extract some Alek Manoah blood and inject it into Nate Pearson. With Pearson's stuff, if he was as physically durable and mentally tough as Alek Manoah he'd steam roll MLB.
  4. I'd be ok with signing Kyle if it meant Corey was also signing with the Jays to play 2B.
  5. Kirk and Van Eyk for Pablo Lopez Sign Syndergaard 1 x $25M Sign Schwarber 3 x $45M Sign Yates 1 x $2M Sign Neris 3 x $33M Sign Givens 1 x 6M ---------------------------------------------- C - Jansen 1B - Vladdy 2B - Biggio 3B - Espinal / Smith SS - Bo LF - Gurriel CF - Springer RF - Teo DH - Schwarber 1. Springer 2. Vladdy 3. Schwarber 4. Bo 5. Teo 6. Gurriel 7. Jansen 8. Biggio 9. Espinal / Smith ------------------------------------------- B - Valera B - Espinal / Smith B - Mcguire B - Grichuk -------------------------------------- SP - Berrios SP - Manoah SP - Lopez SP - Ryu SP - Syndergaard CP - Romano RP - Neris RP - Givens RP - Yates RP - Mayza RP - Cimber RP - Merryweather RP - Richards I think that's roughly about a $175 million payroll?
  6. I wonder, are we continuing to sell Kevin Smith short as a future 3B for the Jays? 144 wRC+ as 24 year old rookie in AAA and strong defensive metrics. Maybe the Jays best course of action is to let Smith and Espinal (both projected as 90~ wRC+ by steamer and both solid defenders) duke it out for 3B duties
  7. I'm still hoping there is a way for both these teams to lose. I don't want to see the cheats win but it pisses me off to no end that a team with less wins than the Jays, and who the Jays went 6 for 6 against this season, is on the brink of a WS championship because they got hot at the right time and just happen to be in the shittiest division in baseball. They shouldn't have even got a sniff of the playoffs never mind win a WS. They won 88 games in a division where 2nd place only won 82.
  8. I hate the idea of losing the DH when you take your starter out. So your starter gets his s*** pushed in forcing you to take him out and now you lose one of your best f***ing hitters reducing your ability to come back and win? Awful idea
  9. Could the Jays get Chapman plus one of Manea/Bassitt without giving up Orelvis/Moreno/Groshans? EDIT: LOL the post above I didn't see, pretty much answers that. Certainly possible I guess.
  10. I agree. What did Bo produce in his first 120~ games in MLB? 4 WAR? I could see Moreno coming up with 120~ games left next season and putting up 3-4 WAR at 3B
  11. Full year of Berrios could bring more WAR Full year of Manoah could bring more WAR Full year of healthy Biggio could bring more WAR Full year of non-s***** Jansen and healthy Kirk could bring more WAR Whoever replaces Ray and Matz in the rotation may not combine for 8-9 WAR, but should replace some of it Also, the you sure as f*** hope the bullpen doesn't leave as much WAR on the table this next season as it did last season.
  12. Should the Jays really be handing out another $100,000,000+ multi year contract to a 30+ year old position player? I love Semien, but they will hamstring themselves if they keep doing that.
  13. Yep you bet, and I am in favor of giving that a try if that's what they decide to do.
  14. Maybe not, but it makes complete sense. The Marlins have a surplus of good young starting pitchers and have expressed interest in acquiring a catcher. The Jays just so happen to have a surplus of good young catchers.
  15. I'm all for it, but it doesn't seem like the Jays are doing it. Besides, trading Kirk for a controllable young starting pitcher wouldn't be the worst thing. Especially with Jansen turning things around, and Moreno on the cusp.
  16. I predict the Jays will trade Kirk for a young Marlin starter this off season. Going to guess Lopez, and the Jays add a bit to get it done. Start the season with Jansen/Mcguire until Moreno gets some AAA under his belt. I also predict they will agree to a long term extension with Berrios and it will be a touch higher than you might expect, in order to keep him from waiting a year to test free agency.
  17. lol Gurriel getting thrown out on the base paths down by 4 runs in the 8th
  18. What the f***? The Jays competitive window is a hell of a lot longer than that. The only way it won't be is if they pay those guys huge contracts and then those guys start sucking. They've got a great young core, and a top 10 farm system.
  19. So, better than a broken down Brad Hand?
  20. Yep. Jays will have to move a catcher this off season you would think, if they plan on keeping Moreno there. I also wonder Mcguire would make it through waivers again. I kind of doubt it.
  21. Awesome. Man I wish Moreno was a 3B. The timing would be perfect for him to come up next season and go all Bo Bichette on MLB.
  22. I sort of lean this way too. I don't think Semien will be back, just my opinion. So do the Jays roll with Espinal/Smith at 3rd base and Biggio/Lopez at 2nd base and wait for Moreno/Martinez and Groshans to arrive? Meanwhile pour the FA dollars into pitching for now? Not a bad idea I don't think. They will score lots of runs even without Semien, but they need to add 2 or 3 quality starting pitchers and 2 or 3 solid high leverage relievers. Of course, they could go with a cheaper 3B addition also. Don't have to break the bank for Ramirez.
  23. That's a very good question for sure. That would be my biggest worry, keeping Ramirez more than two years may not be possible, and if it is its going to cost you a lot of money and you may have to let another core piece walk as a result. We have some of those worries right now with Berrios.
  24. Orelvis Martinez, Alejandro Kirk, Nate Pearson for Jose Ramirez Who says no?
