Werent we all pretty decently happy with where the pen was at the start of the year? It was basically the same as the solid one that finished last year + Garcia. Its just been horrible luck and injuries for the second straight year that has caused the pen to s*** the bed again. Thats the just the way it goes with guys who throw 60 innings a year. Just gonna have a find a couple more Richards and Cimbers this year.
I would say yes to Frasso as well. He was a college guy, he's already 23. I get he's coming back from TJ and you want to protect his innings but my idea would be let him pitch as a starter for another month and then come August turn convert him to a 1 or 2 IP guy and send him to AAA to get adjusted to the routine and then once he has a few games call him up. His stuff will clearly play in the MLB as will Zulus. They are both coming off seasons where they didn't pitch at all basically so let the both of them start for another month then send them to the pen to limit the amount of innings they throw. I mean s*** Zulu hasn't even thrown 40 innings this year and Frasso isn't even at 30 yet. So let them start for another month, then try em out as high powered relief options for the stretch run and potentially the playoffs.
Tiedemann I would leave alone. Let him come up as a starter. Don't wanna mess with him cause he looks like he could potentially be in the conversation for best pitching prospect in the game in a years time.
Frasso promoted to Vancouver according to Arden Zwelling. Part of me wants to keep developing these guys as starters slowly but another part of me sees the stuff and wants them in the MLB pen next week lol
How do you not have Houston on there? They are a clear top 3 to me. Basically have been a model org for the last 8 years or so. Minus the whole cheating thing lmaoooooooooooo
Frasso shoved again today. 4 IP, 5ks, 1BB, 3H. Sinker topped out at 98. CU generated a lot of swing and miss. Cant be long before he moves up to Vancouver.
Canadian kid J.C Masson drafted in 2019 in the 26th round. Got 6th -7th round money to sign. So there is a little pedigree there. By far the youngest of the Jays draft class. Still only 19. Did really well in the FCL last year with a .880 ops. Off to a crazy start this year, 9 for 15 with 7 walks to 3ks with 2 triples and 1 double. Could be something...
Yea I think so too. In the interview he gave after Ryu was confirmed out he said they have the capabilities to be creative with what they do. I think thats code for saying they could spend big for a substantial upgrade to the pitching staff.
He wasnt going to have "easily been safe" if he didnt sprint through the bag. If he slides he slows way down and is forced out. If he sprints and tries to stop on the bag he has to slow down before the bag so hes out again. So tell me how exactly he would have been safe without sprinting through the bag?
