  1. Even in normal years there were some situations that were head scratchers. Ugh, damn my old man brain, but there was a journeyman INF who had a great year a few years ago, and turned down a QO, and never came close to that again. And now he may be out of baseball. Or close. s*** I will need to do some Googling.
  2. I am with you. I don't want to trade 2-3 prospects for one year of anyone. What was done with Dickey was smart, get a 24-48 hour window to negotiate an extension, and make the trade. Of course, don't do this for another Dickey (ugh).
  3. As bad contracts go, that is probably one of the better bad contracts in baseball.
  4. Wow. What a great deal. I saw this and thought, man they are going to spend this year. Like really spend. I guess we will see. But this is nothing but good.
  5. I thought Groshans was earmarked for 3B, doesn't he have a stronger arm? Bichette to 2B maybe? And when/where does Martin fit in?
  6. I agree, but with the pressure off to win or else, I think they sweep this series. playing loosey goosey.
  7. Everything was methodical? What does that even f***ing mean? You are being a douche, mate.
  8. Wow, what an awesome way to clinch. Dolis threw some very awesome sliders tonight.
  9. When you have to talk for 2+ you're not always going to be spitting out gems.
  10. Jesus, they really did that? Wow, this game is evolving quickly.
  11. Randal Grichuk was also part of the deal, IIRC correctly. I also thought they should have traded JD in 2017, but I think ownership didn't want that. The Blue Jays wanted to be a big boy, and they still thought they had the roster to get some wins in 2018. Hindsight is 20/20, like you said, but I can understand why he wasn't traded in 2017. If JD was having an MVP type season in 2018, instead of the injury mess that was his season, I will bet we'd have 2-3 more decent players on the roster, or minors, now via a trade. Or nothing. Prospects are always a gamble. We may have something with Merryweather. Whos's to say we would have been better off.
  12. I missed this game, and didn't catch Jays in 30. How'd Bichette look, is he back on that horse?
  13. I've been following Kirk for a couple of years. I love his story. I was semi-shocked but extremely happy he was called up. From what I have read, he has had a MLB-ready bat for a while. I think this was a ballsy move, and unlike most this FO makes. Very impressed they are taking this chance. Even just for this one weird season, if they end up starting him in the minors next year.
  14. When we traded for Simeon, the scouting reports glowed. This isn't a new thing. I thought Kay was hot garbage, but he has touched 97 mph and looks really, really good. That trade worked out amazingly well.
  15. Odor is a big guy, too. That was a haymaker.
  16. To get anything at all for a JD who was injured so badly that year was a minor miracle. I actually remember think MLB may nix the trade, because you can't trade injured players. I remember Atkins saying Merryweather (the PTBNL) has an arm that would impress. For me, right now, he looks like one of our best pitchers, and has the stuff, composure and pitch mix to continue on. And he hasn't fired a lot of bullets. Hopefully that means he has put all the major injuries behind him and he is ready to contribute for years. Even before Merryweather started contributing I would get super annoyed at fans who complained we got nothing for JD. Beggars cannot be choosers.
  17. And Shaw. Shaw needs to act like a #4 or #5 hitter. Not sure he can, but every time I count him out he will have a decent game. This is a 1-year deal for him, plenty of incentive in addition to the chance to play for a playoff team.
  18. Sanchez in 2015, or was it 2016, was lights out in a relief role before he was made a starter. Maybe Pearson will enjoy the same success. You can just stick to your best two pitches and let 'er rip.
  19. It is not. I really hate the Red Sox. I only hate Satan, Trump and the Yankees more.
  20. I have also been a Rowdy fan since day 1. I have always loved the name. My only concern has been his defense. But, without looking at dWAR, he has been looking really solid to me #eyetest
  21. It might be me, but it sure looks like Shaw's bat speed is slow...he always seems behind of his swings.
  22. I guess he is aiding the tank by taking up a roster spot. He sure isn't playing much.
  23. Hey, what do you think will happen to the Orioles' Chris Davis? He's not a FA until 2023 lol and is just awful, and this year has been pretty much benched. You would think they would just DFA him at some point, wouldn't you? Holy that's a lot of money to throw away.
  24. Okay, I never heard him referred to as Chucky I guess I should hang around the front office more.
