  1. I think, if anything, this means we are more in on Bauer. Bauer must see that the FO isn't f***ing around, and is trying to win the right way; solid core and great FA adds with money to spend when necessary. By the sounds of it, from pitchers like Tijuan Walker, the pitching analytics the Jays use are top shelf, and a smart guy like Bauer would appreciate it. But who knows.
  2. Also, Pujols could really be 50-years old.
  3. Money and term are 90% of the equation though. And players tend to be impressed with our FO and training facilities.
  4. That contract would be amazing.
  5. Me too! Did he have TJ? Guess I can just Google that. EDIT: He had TJ in September, 2019. Damn, he should be ready for 2021! I think this guy can be a very solid reliever. https://www.mlb.com/news/tim-mayza-undergoes-tommy-john-surgery
  6. I don't understand how that is even possible. Holy crap the Padres have a system.
  7. You reference the Angels a fair bit, which is weird on a Jays forum. Is there a story behind that?
  8. It would be a sexy signing, but yeah, I think the exact same thing. I predict major production decrease after the 2023 season. In 2016 Springer had one of the better OF arms in the game. It's probably still okay a few years from now. Maybe he'd be a decent corner outfield after he starts to slow? Dunno.
  9. Would anyone sign Tanaka at 2-year/30M? Steamer still projects him at > 2 WAR.
  10. I hope you are both correct. I am not a purist, I would love to see the DH in the NL. It would make inter-divisional games a little less skewed.
  11. Either way that would be an outstanding offseason. Those two SP adds might be worth + 4 WAR alone. Springer maybe + 3 WAR. Didi or Bryant would surely be a ~ 1.5 WAR add. That's a big deal. Not to mention the core is still super young and should continue improving.
  12. I got it, and it was funny. We've heard "and the Jays were right in the hunt until he signed" trope too often.
  13. I am really happy about this. It hasn't been flashy, but he's really built solid bones for the franchise to build around.
  14. Not at all. Cole pitched very well. Lots of surplus value there.
  15. A team based in the US. Look, I want him signed probably as much as anyone, I am using reverse psychology to the baseball gods when I say "The Jays have a 0% chance of signing Springer".
  16. It was not, and with Lindor a player rep, the talk was there was no way in hell he's be extending, wanting to test FA instead. Lindor was a hard pass for me. Spring, when he signs with anyone other than the Jays, will be harder to take.
  17. Me too. I have no way of knowing for sure, but if feels like the Jays are always the team agents tease to get better deals for their clients with other teams.
  18. I am not talking odds. There is 0% chance the Jays get him. Not 5%, not 7%. 0%. BTW, I am really wanting the Jays to sign him. But tempting the odds gods is the only way we do this. Thus, my militant post. #triggered
  19. Just f***ing logic, mate.
  20. Sorry, 0% chance the Jays get Springer.
  21. I read a scouting report that projects him to be a very solid #3 starter. That is exactly what we need. If we grab him, and a guy like Tanaka we'd have a pretty decent SP squad. I would rather sign two 2nd tier SP than Bauer.
  22. We are not getting Springer. 0% chance, IMO. I am looking at the second tier FAs. If the Jays signed JBJ, Wong and Tanaka (very possible) and a few other minor FAs, etc., it would definitely be an incremental improvement over 2020. Not sexy, but it would be okay. In this scenario Biggio moves to 3B. Tellez and Vlad DH/1B. And goodbye Fisher. I am also very okay with not signing an OF and promoting Martin to the bigs after the super 2 cut off to play in the OF. But, signing JBJ on a 1 or 2-year deal would give us the luxury of keeping Martin down for a little bit longer. But in my arcade game world, Manoah, Groshan and Martin are all up in 2021.
  23. Assuming Lindor will not sign an extension (yet), what would it take to get him from Cleveland? Similarly, what would it take to get Castillo from the Reds?
