Thanks for this. Everything you say makes sense. It may not mean anything, but that fact that the Jays signed Ryu, a Boras client, and the fact that the Jays are treating their minor league players very well may actually count for something, too.
Is anyone worried about signing Martin? I get the feeling that Boras wants him to sign an amount like the first overall, which may force the Jays to give up a draft pick next year. Anyway, I have heard nothing. Has anyone else?
Isn't Tanaka's arm hanging on buy a thread? It would be a good time. I will bet if you are on the IL, you are still paid your full salary even if the league suspends pay due to work shortage. Just spit ballin'
That is my impression, too. It will take a white hot 10-12 ABs for Alford to be considered at this point. f***ing up a couple of routine plays really destroyed his chances. His plus skills lie on that side, and he messed up in the spotlight. Again. Ugh.
100% - I agree with all of this. You're right, Puig should be good for > 2 WAR, and even if only signed for a 1-year should be able to net one or two decent prospects at the deadline. And by then, hopefully one of the OF prospects has emerged a bit.
Yeah, I would sign him for a 2-year, plus 1 year option. Not just one. But then again, even then they could get good value back in trade end of July if he's on pace for a ~2 WAR season.
Plus he is f***ing fun to watch. No offense to McKinney. Or drying paint.
Here is MLB's list (sans paywall).

Torkelson might be a difference maker for years. He's a 1B, which for me means he may easily make it to round 5. Dunno.
He seems to be pretty great defensively, too.
I was hoping he would have a red hot TC and make things hard for the FO. I am really in his corner. He has time still, but man he sure is playing himself out of the org. SO frustrating.
I'm 6"2" and 230...and I box, wrestle and work out a ton.
According to BMI charts I am morbidly obese. But I wear pants with a waist of 34.
Weight is like ERA, it's a stat, but it barely means anything compared to other more advanced metrics. IMO.
