  1. Hank Aaron passed away. I took a look at his fWAR on Fangraphs, OMFG. This guy was a baseball god. Holy s***. Take a look at those number. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/hank-aaron/1000001/stats?position=OF
  2. I know it is a small sample size, but Steven Matz has looked really, really good. Better than his decent years in 2018-2019. It sounds like the Jays pitching staff knew they could fix him a little when the brought him over, so maybe it would not be too huge a surprise if he continued to succeed. He can't continue the amazing success of the early 2021 campaign, but if his regressions means a solid #3 or #4 starter going forward do you think an extension may be a great idea? Or, if he continues to be stellar, he may earn a QO. But at 29-years old and with his talent, I would not be hesitant to offer him something now.
  3. Going into the season I was amazed that we had so much solid pitching depth. And now Milone is starting. How did we get here? So depressing.
  4. I like reclamation projects that works out nicely. I really like his fb. it looks like it has great late movement.
  5. Castro is the older prospect they picked up from Detroit, right? How has he looked this Spring? He has great velo but iffy command, according to fangraphs.
  6. Jeebus, hopefully only when we are down by 10 and there are no willing position players available...
  7. So great - this news made my Sunday. And another sign that the FO is not dicking around. They want to win.
  8. I feel like I am living in the Matrix. I hate the Yankees more than anything on this planet, and then they trade for this f***er. I almost cannot believe this is real.
  9. Absolutely. And it was a medium miracle we could even get a trade in. JD was a mess that year. Merryweather is house money.
  10. Nope, lefty on lefty. And it worked out.
  11. The Jays need to throw at someone.
  12. His stuff is amazing. His fastballs up are ridiculous. He reminds me of Kimbrel when he first came up and was unstoppable.
  13. Can Merryweather really be this good? It is interesting reviewing what Atkins said about him soon after the JD trade: "What I can tell you is that we're excited about the return," Atkins said. "It's a near-term prospect we feel can impact our major-league team in a significant way."
  14. The Jays could use Rube Waddell on their roster.
  15. He was an all star one year. Not many MLB players do that.
  16. Yeah, similar personalities. Although Shea sounds smarter.
  17. I don't remember much about the game, but it was the 2nd or 3rd inning and in the SkyDome, early in the season when I was still watching every second of every game. It was a Jose Canseco moon shot that we rewound and watched a few times. Shea was actually pretty decent for a year or two.
  18. As a Jay he hit one of the hardest dingers I have ever seen. I remember him for that first. All this other BS second.
  19. Davis yes, an extra pitcher no. #justsayin I am not a Panik fan.
  20. Espinal and Wall...my picks for the bench.
  21. I find Wall very intriguing. He's has a good ST and he bats left. If we trade Grichuk, could he take his place? Can he play all three OF positions?
  22. I hope the Jays don't carry Reese, and expose him to waivers. I would rather keep Merryweather AND Liriano to start the season. We will see. The Mets cut Caleb Joseph. He's likely come back if the Jays really want that veteran presence.
