  1. A team based in the US. Look, I want him signed probably as much as anyone, I am using reverse psychology to the baseball gods when I say "The Jays have a 0% chance of signing Springer".
  2. It was not, and with Lindor a player rep, the talk was there was no way in hell he's be extending, wanting to test FA instead. Lindor was a hard pass for me. Spring, when he signs with anyone other than the Jays, will be harder to take.
  3. Me too. I have no way of knowing for sure, but if feels like the Jays are always the team agents tease to get better deals for their clients with other teams.
  4. I am not talking odds. There is 0% chance the Jays get him. Not 5%, not 7%. 0%. BTW, I am really wanting the Jays to sign him. But tempting the odds gods is the only way we do this. Thus, my militant post. #triggered
  5. Just f***ing logic, mate.
  6. Sorry, 0% chance the Jays get Springer.
  7. I read a scouting report that projects him to be a very solid #3 starter. That is exactly what we need. If we grab him, and a guy like Tanaka we'd have a pretty decent SP squad. I would rather sign two 2nd tier SP than Bauer.
  8. We are not getting Springer. 0% chance, IMO. I am looking at the second tier FAs. If the Jays signed JBJ, Wong and Tanaka (very possible) and a few other minor FAs, etc., it would definitely be an incremental improvement over 2020. Not sexy, but it would be okay. In this scenario Biggio moves to 3B. Tellez and Vlad DH/1B. And goodbye Fisher. I am also very okay with not signing an OF and promoting Martin to the bigs after the super 2 cut off to play in the OF. But, signing JBJ on a 1 or 2-year deal would give us the luxury of keeping Martin down for a little bit longer. But in my arcade game world, Manoah, Groshan and Martin are all up in 2021.
  9. Assuming Lindor will not sign an extension (yet), what would it take to get him from Cleveland? Similarly, what would it take to get Castillo from the Reds?
  10. A little depressing, but what will sting more is when Springer signs with the Mets. Or maybe the Padres now, ffs.
  11. If we fail on Kim, I like the idea of signing Didi to a 2-year deal. He checks all of your boxes I want nothing to do with Lindor this year. Next year, yes. I really want Springer, though. I am sure the Jays would have to toss in one more year than every other team.
  12. What could the Jays have offered? Manoah, Jansen + 2 top 20? I think I make that trade.
  13. Not signing Darvish back then legit depressed me for a few weeks.
  14. With trades I usually get 4-5 Tweets immediately. Don't get me wrong, I check here first things every AM, but Twitter is amazing for the baseball freaks. Instant info.
  15. Lindor is awesome, but I want nothing to do with a rental. And I am 99% sure he won't sign an extension now. To lose 2-3 great prospects for one year of Lindor just doesn't do it for me.
  16. Yet, IIRC, he played some SS for the Jays during his stint with us and didn't look terrible. I have not gone to Fangraphs to see his metrics playing there
  17. That is such a great point. I forgot that he had knee problems. If he has played in St. Louis his whole career I wonder if he may be in the HOF.
  18. Steamer has Grichuk (1.7) worth more WAR than JBJ (1.4) in 2021. I agree with your hot take.
  19. I think both guys were like 40 or 45. Certainly not 50.
  20. A 36-year catcher in year 5 of the contract should still be performing okay. And by that point, ideally, you have a young buck ready to play full time and then the vet can DH/C/backup. Or be traded.
  21. Just bring in "Crash" Davis to harness that s***.
  22. If we sign him, I wonder if we could then trade a couple of our catching prospects for pitching.
  23. I am still hoping he can be successful. It has been a couple years since I checked, but IIRC he was topping 98 mph.
