  1. So it sounds as if, and I realize this is not new news, that Pearson has a sports hernia and will probably get surgery in the offseason to correct it. What I think that means is he cannot make it worse, and any discomfort he feels is just part of the situation until the offseason. So for the Jays now, we may have this guy in the 'pen like 2015's Aaron Sanchez. This is really the best possible scenario, given his nagging injury. I am sure he wouldn't be allowed to play if he can make it worse. What a boost for the bullpen. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-hope-pearson-can-reliever-option-near-term/
  2. Please, the sooner the better. Hopefully we can move Reese of Jano in a trade...ASAP.
  3. I am open to it, for sure. But I would like a upgrade at 3B, probably a rental, before the Gallo upgrade. Both, and then Cruz would make this absolutely the best lineup the Jays have ever had.
  4. I think Biggio can go. But with Gallo, we'd have too many OFs. So maybe LGJ would go...and Grichuk remains the 4th OF. Gallo > LGJ, but it becomes a way smaller improvement IMO, and maybe not worth it. Does Texas need a catcher?
  5. Does Joey Gallo fit on this team? Grichuk, cash and a couple of prospects?
  6. So, wRC+ is sort of a "metric" measure, in that 100 is average. Like IQ 160 is amazing and 60 is Danny Jansen? Whoa, Vladdy is at 189 - holy s***. That's video game stuff.
  7. Like all of you I love baseball, but I am older (52) so I still rely on a lot of old metrics to measure baseball success like ERA and OPS. I post this because I think a lot of us older fans, and newer fans, and maybe casual fans, would like to know how to dive deeper into baseball metrics. So my questions are: 1. What metrics do you use and rely upon consistently? For my, I live my fWAR and OPS. And yes, ERA (don't judge). But I understand that xFIP may be a way better measure of how a pitcher's performance. Anyway, please give your feedback. 2. What websites/tools/resources do you use to view players' statistics, contract details, trade worth, etc.? I used Fangraphs almost exclusively, but I use MLB for scouting reports. I know some folks on here post trade scenarios to determine if they are realistic. What do you use? 3. Players in the minors - what do you use to determine their value and chances for future success? Once again I use Fangraphs to scout for FV (future value), where ~ indicates a player who has a good chance to a least make it as a bench player. But what else is out there? I hope some of you can post your tips and information here. I think a lot of us fans who want to enjoy baseball even more could use this knowledge.
  8. Whoa, this is the perfect move. I like it more than Bryant for sure. It would, I assume, cost way less. Get this guy and Taylor Rogers from the Twins and that is a good trade deadline.
  9. LGJ or Grichuk maybe??? For Roark?
  10. Just brutal. This news really saddens me. He seems like such a fun kid. What does this mean, no more ball in 2021 for sure...but I wonder if he misses some 2022? And just before the ASG??? Just f***ing terrible.
  11. I think any of these trades can be done if we take on some bad money. Things is I don't think Cleveland has a lot of bad money left.
  12. That is an amazing, video game, lineup. I want Cruz and Taylor Rogers from MIN. We would have Rogers for 2022, too. I don't think it would take a lot to get those guys. Nothing that would feel like a hit to the dick, anyway.
  13. Seager was my early choice, but the Mariners cannot trade him when they are seeming competitive, plus Seager's vesting option is pretty expensive. But I would trade for him if they would ship us one of their best SP, too. For a a combination of four B players and prospects. How about this trade! And add a prospect or two.
  14. And Bryant! Package LGJ and Jansen+? Maybe an A and B prospect?
  15. I've done it before. It's possible. Adds a nice flavour, too.
  16. Buck and Fan, disregard. Ryu the fan.
  17. Oh, it's "at 'em" ball, not "atom" ball, lol. Something Pat says a lot.
  18. Another run of wins and some health and we have a real shot. I predict Atkins makes a major move where we ship a good chunk of prospect capital out.
  19. And he was really good for 2+ seasons. But we also had a lefty about ten years later...who had a great 1.5 seasons. What the hell was his name??? He was short and had a slightly higher slot...
  20. Looks like he is under control until 2025. Major score for Panik.
  21. What the hell happened there? Are all of his knee ligaments torn, or was there *also* a broken leg? This would put the future of any player in doubt. Could be a 2-year IL situation. Horrible.
  22. Anthony Castro was just interviewed on SN. Seems like a good, chill guy. His English is excellent. Up there with Teo.
  23. So f***ing brutal. Just so s***** for this cool Canadian kid. Ugh.
