  1. From the pov of minor upgrades and how much we platoon, and how much we pinch hit. Refsnyder still absolutely mashes lefties at 34. He would be a decent cheap add.
  2. Bo, Imai, Ponce for me and i'd be really happy. That's too many starters but we'd make it work. If we could trade for a clear number one starter, that would be even more ideal.
  3. It just seems so much has to be right with no floor. Like if he doesn't stick at third he can't play first for us. Some of the scouting reports i've seen doubt whether he can even play first. You'd almost have to toy with the idea of playing vlad at third. Then the big comp is joey gallo as in gallo is the only guy who swung and missed that much who turned out to be a success. There is talk that he needs to shorten his swing. And even that he might be strongside platoon year one while he acclimates. It's a lot. Maybe if the price is right but i don't see how a team with a clear need at first doesn't outbid us. Seattle for example.
  4. He supposedly has true 80 grade power. Its all about if you look at his swing and see a way to get to more contact, and think he can play third. That's one too many variable for me.
  5. I'd be a little hesitant on Varsho. Who knows how his defense will age.
  6. the baez and anderson comps are out there to me. Bo makes more contact in and out than them and swings outside the zone less. I do get the concern with his profile tho.
  7. If he really touches 98 as a starter then i'd give him that to be our 5th starter, and you could even have the downside as a reliever with even better velo.
  8. Yea but you can't keep him in the upper minors and would need to keep him stretched out in the pen.
  9. To an extent. Defensive war is obviously less valued by teams than hitting.
  10. Yea i think his contract could have actual value for a cheap team looking for a 5th starter.
  11. I want them to sign Bo, but the argument to essentially spend his money on pitching is a pretty good one imo:
  12. He's an ok long man leftie in the pen for $5 million or so. Like, its not terrible but when we have a pretty tight 40 man.. i think its tradeable.
  13. Yea i kind of knew they wouldn't like it based on that. I was surprised on how low they were on tucker.
  14. It Lauer isn't optionable, i might either decline that contract or sign him and trade him. Depending on how i feel about tieddeman, bloss etc.
  15. Bullpen already signed for next year is - Hoffman - Garcia - Little - Lauer - Varland - Sandlin - Fisher - Nance - Fluharty - Bruhl - Schultz We also have some guys in the system who you'd think could be good additions. I think i'd just straight hold off on this. Is Lauer optionable? If i could keep him in triple A as the 6th starter I'd prefer that.
  16. Listening to the rates and barrells pod on free agency. Quite low on tucker and bo. Basically, bo's skillset really doesn't age well. edit: high on Imai.
  17. Woodruff would be the guy for me except for the velo drop off last year.
  18. Gausman, Springer, Lauer, Garcia, Varsho are off the books in 2027. If you really believe in the homegrown pitching, i think you could spend this year, and dip under again in 2027 or 2028 with largely a homegrown rotation. Or at least with someone like Yesavage in the spot where a $25m pitcher was before.
  19. I don't think Detroit will extend him. The offer they supposedly gave was laughable. I actually think some team will technically get a deal on him WAR to dollar wise just because teams are so reluctant to pay for rentals, if it happens in the offseason.
  20. Skubal is projected for roughly 6 wins. At $10m per win that's about $60m. So that's roughly a 50fV hitter and a 50FV pitcher plus something else (50fV hitter is 28m and pitcher is 21m). So, like Nimmala and Bloss/Tieddeman who are both 50FV on fangraphs. Then you'd have to add a real prospect to that as well.
  21. I didn't realize its only one year of skubal. Crochet had two years left. So, i'm not sure but you'd think there are teams that could beat it.
  22. I think i'd aim high in pitching, so an ace via trade or top of the market. If that doesn't happen, i might consider standing pat. Or maybe signing Bassitt on a one year deal.
  23. Cease, Bieber, Gausman, Yesavage, Berrios is a pretty damn good rotation. That would be amazing.
  24. AA won several divisions and a world series so i'm not sure it will ever be the time to dunk on him.
