  1. He throws real soft and his stuff numbers are kind of terrible but no risk
  2. I'm a little worried about him. His is a profile that needs a good hit tool. It's obviously early.
  3. Sanchez had a single, double, a walk and no ks today. He is on a real heater.
  4. I think it was my original comment that sparked the Nimmala thing. I'm more optimistic on him than I was before. Basically everyone seems to agree he's like a 55 shortstop and that he should grow into power. He also cut his k rate down to an acceptable level. There's enough going on that he could hit .210 with pop and take walks, and as long as he can play short, that's a good profile basically.
  5. Yea this thread is a disaster, Sanchez had two homers today. He seems to be really heating up.
  6. They factually used him in the lowest leverage spot. Rogers came in when it was still 2-1 and Varland had the best hitters. Hoffman had a 4 run lead against the back of the order. He should be able to do that . Schneider however needs to recognize that hoffman might be a little weak mentally and pull him earlier. But at the end of the day this is on hoffman. I'd schedule a loss tomorrow. Give this bullpen a two day break. They need to get the sheer number of relief outings down somehow or they are going to burn out in july and our season will be done. In the big scheme of things a split here is fine.
  7. My gripe would be pull him earlier. At least two hitters earlier. Putting him in is fine, a 4 run lead, any reliever should be able to go in.
  8. As a euro, north american sports are so weird. They are all based on (and baseball is going this way) gouging fans in big markets to subsidize fans in small markets. In terms of fan experience, it would make sense to have more teams and a higher percentage in big markets.. that can afford them. Like there should be three hockey teams in the GTA for example.
  9. Sign him for a spot start?
  10. Jay Harry with two homers today. Austin Cates had a good start too over 6 innings with 8 ks. Like to see him go on a good run.
  11. I'd keep Valanzuela up and get him some DH time or even see if he could cover first when vlad DHs. He has the best at bats on the team.
  12. Send Vlad to the hitting lab. I'm being serious. This plate approach from the best hitter is cancerous.
  13. No, he would just similarily not have his future defined by that. You asked for stars who did that and were given like 3 examples, and at least in my case it was the literal first person i looked at. You are just wrong about this, you can't just compare minor league batting averages and cap futures based on that.
  14. There are 50s i like more than others. Some profiles rely so much on one tool. Nimmala represents a nice blend of floor and upside. He's definitely a 50 I wouldn't trade personally.
  15. Its crazy this is the first guy i thought about because i've always thought him and nimmala might have similarities,,, but yea trevor story hit .233 his first year at High A.
  16. I'd snap up a split right now if offered
  17. When i hear people talk about Nimmala, i always think they have him way too low. That's a star profile.
  18. Once he breaks camp though you have decided at that point he's worth it. You can send him back before that.
  19. It would mean that Holliday hit the extreme low end of his outcomes and Parker is still unknown. Progress and development isn't really that linear or predictable. I'd also say at no point has anyone thought Parker was as good a prospect coming out of the draft as Holiday was.
  20. Spencer Miles was the opposite of risky realistically. You pay 50k and that's it. I'd say its possible that Perry moves fast but it will centre on how they grade his pitches. If they think he can get outs in the majors and he's at triple A, he could get called.
  21. I actually saw that start last night. Assuming the stadium gun is correct, he topped 95, sat 94 for the first 3 innings and then was 94/93 for the last 3. They seemed to have a ton of lefties so it was a good test for him. He gave up some decently hard contact including a lead off double but struck guys out when he needed to. They also picked a guy off at second and threw a guy out stealing for two outs. There were some ugly swings on breaking balls especially from righties. A couple of the lefties were called strike three. edit: dub gleed seems to have replaced eddie micheletti as fan favourite. I think people like yelling his name. And i can't remember who won the sushi race but as always it was the biggest event of the night. It was also 75 cent hot dog night and people were kind of going mental housing hot dogs.
  22. Vlad has been worth 21 WAR and Martin 2 rounding up.
  23. As far as i understand Cook was almost all a physical development pick. He's really fast, his force plate numbers were really high but he had basically been a pitcher not a hitter. The bust potential is high, but there is also a possible secondary path as an good fielding slappy cf, 4th outfielder type .
  24. It will be interesting to see how Nimmala does in an almost full season at double A. His big advantage is that he seems to be consensus considered to project as an average shortstop. That gives him a bit more room on the hitting side. He also has struck out a little less than gose at high A. I'm pretty optimistic on Nimmala but obviously anyone can be a half grade off in multiple spots the wrong way and bust.
  25. The knock on Pinango was always that he was a 30 grade defender who doesn't elevate the ball enough to make up for it. I'd send him down the minute barger is back. And also, make a trade for any quad A rightie with pop to replace sosa.
