Does Cashman have a 'tree' or does he come from another org?
i always feel like its easier to make deals when you know there are orgs out there who value things similarily.
Us and cleveland (and maybe oakland), tampa, dodgers, milwaukee..
The really scary thing about him is his in zone contact rate which is terrible. There are very few guys that bad who later became stars.
edit: or what sliderguy said
Most 13 year old dominicans we promise several million dollars to also end up sucking.
Finding the right 18 year old japanese/korean player to give a couple of million to and then turning around and giving a ton of latin american 16 year olds mostly 100k with some 500k sprinkled in seems like just as good a strategy.
AJ Preller has to his core the belief that he can always find more and is rarely wrong.
also, if he does try miller as a starter that would be interesting.
Gausman is 35 and not coming off a major injury and has had three consecutive years including this one better than Bieber's last healthy year.
Unless age regression kicks in massively in the next two months, its likely Gausman is better for the time we have control of Bieber.
Next year, Bieber is probably better. We don't have him next year.
Ah ok...
Yea i'm meh on this until we see him pitch. This isn't an ace any more than Gausman is.
And if it means Lauer and not Berrios goes to the pen, its barely a net positive based on this year so far.
It also depends on if they value stephen like fangraphs does obviously.
