  1. Late inning relievers usually throw gas. IKF is one of the best in the league against velo. It makes sense.
  2. It would be gravy, but I'm not counting on it. Given he hadn't found his timing two months into the season I'm not counting on him doing it in the next two weeks.
  3. I have been one of the biggest Hoffman defenders I think but even I am starting to question his continued use as THE guy. A 10% fail rate is still great for a closer but Hoffman must be double or triple that now.
  4. Anyone else see Heineman in the post game interview and think there's no way Altuve would have let that happen. It was so disrespectful to his wife.
  5. Best post I've read in a while. This gave me such a good laugh.
  6. I would hazard a guess he is the reason he hasn't signed an extension yet. Would it be surprising to see him move over to the commissioner's office to get some time in there before Manfred retires in 2029?
  7. The numbers of guys who have come out this year and said the key to their success this year has been some form being true to themselves and their swing has made me truly appreciate how he is playing to guys strengths rather than getting them to attempt to fit whatever terrible model Mattingly and Martinez were following.
  8. If there is pain that causes mechanics to change it could lead to a bigger injury. The team may have simply told him he was a no go. You just don't know.
  9. Our team needs to score more than theirs before the end of the game.
  10. This is the narrative, but it simply isn't true in 2025. He's still receiving shine from his 2024 platinum glove. In 2025, he is 9th percentile in blocks above average and 85th in framing. He has negative DRS this year. Defensive numbers are hard to go by so they could be telling a false story but they tell a story of some regression in his defense this year.
  11. Babe Ruth had 9 SBs in a 45 game span? I might have guessed the under on career stolen bases at that number lol.
  12. Say they lose both but don't get swept...they only lose a game to each team and are still up 1.5 games with the tie breaker. they can easily lose those series and still win the division.
  13. Even with a 6 man rotation they continue to baby their starters. Like pulling Gausman while dealing at 93 pitches? How can one justify that with a 6 man rotation?
  14. I think it was just as much or more to have these guys face the Yankees next week.
  15. They brought him in for the playoffs.
  16. One of the drivers for this change is to cut down on travel and to create more west/west matchups in the early rounds of the playoffs so I don’t think point 3 in your list of splitting same city/state teams will weigh heavily if at all if Manfred gets his way.
  17. Rogers haas been pretty great this year with more bWAR than Stowers despite missing a lot of time. Had the O's been competing like they were expected to this trade wouldn't look all that bad...at least not until Rogers is a FA.
  18. JRod seems to be a second half guy. He was really slow out of the gate last year too. His career first half/second half splits are quite different.
  19. So it's your fault if he is out for an extended period then?
  20. The irony being that emotional dysregulation is a pretty big symptom of AD-HD, which is how a good portion of MLB players get exemptions for Amphetamines, which really help hitting a lot.
  21. This is the dude that slapped Joc Pedereson on the filed over a fantasy football dispute. I think it is safe to say he is a little unhinged.
  22. That card came out before the big boom in popularity that led to the oversaturation of the market. Likewise, Shohei and Trout rookie cards fetch a pretty Penny now as they debuted when the industry was down and less cards were made. As others pointed out, the inclusion of numbered cards now adds a new element where they should retain value and even increase. But even now with how many releases there are there are so many 1/1s kicking around too.
  23. So I collected a ton of Shaq and MJ cards including a ton of Shaq rookies back in the day thinking they would appreciate in value. They are mostly worth $1-2 each now if that. That happened during the boom and cards are in a boom period again now. I wouldn’t suggest it as an investment strategy.
  24. Isn't Eury Perez the pitcher you would want to miss over Alcantara?
  25. It is, but when you play outfield and the organization you are in has Tucker, Seiya, PCA and Happ how can you really argue it?
