  1. And I would bet the fact the Jays strung together a bunch of hits in game 3 when Vlad was intentionally walked contributed to the decision to pitch to Vlad in the first inning of game 4.
  2. If that is the case I would look at it as a bonus. that means they have had two weeks to identify and fix the tipping.
  3. That's a tough call to me. I think Detroit, especially knowing Skubal is down until late in the series. Seattle scares me a bit but at the end of the day, to win the World Series they will need to beat a team better than Seattle anyway.
  4. You certainly have to question bringing in a reliever who judge had hit two homers off in 5 plate appearances in that situation. Other questions/notes I have after that game (sorry, I haven't had a chance to read the thread so maybe have likely been discussed) 1. This team has gone defense over offense with leads all season long, so why bring in Barger with an early 5 run lead? 2. Does this management team not understand reverse splits? They keep bringing in lefties to face Bellinger (OPS is 300 points higher versus lefties than righties) and seem to not understand the Davis has an OPS versus righties 200 points higher than Lukes. Now I will admit maybe they base this just as much off pitch mix as anything and that could tell a different story but on the surface it is questionable. 3. Along those lines, is Santander a good enough bat versus righties at this point to justify keeping him in over Lukes defensively once the lefty arm was used? 4. I hope the bullpen comes back stronger than it has looked the past couple of games. It would be nice to not have to use Gausman/Trey this round to have them fresh to start in a likely ALCS.
  5. I'm on the east coast...I'm not getting tickets either way.
  6. I heard Carney was looking at harnessing the energy from the wind generated from Ben Rice whiffing on splitters. I loved watching that for the first two games. Honestly, if it were to go 5, I don't think Rice should be in the lineup against what will likely be Gausman and Trey.
  7. I am hoping for the Dodgers for a couple of reasons. The main one being home field. The second being how sweet beating Shohei and Roki would feel.
  8. Rodon on more than 4 days rest had much better numbers than Rodon on 4 days rest this year. Nearly a 1 ERA difference I believe.
  9. Anyone remember how good Gus Chacin started out with his deceptive delivery? Edit: I looked it up and not nearly as good as my memory thought lol
  10. Bieber is pitching for a big contract in the offseason too. That means something and he will want to show what he has got.
  11. And Red Sox fans before game 3 of the wild card.
  12. I think part of that 10 years ago was the pure disrespect of Joey Bats flip where he was staring down the pitcher. Vlad's was a flip but didn't come off nearly as much as trying to show up the other team. Note, I am in the pro Batflip camp.
  13. He was never pretending he couldn't speak it (that's more Ohtani territory when it works to get out of gambling scandals). He always said he was using the interpreter because it wasn't his first language and he wanted to make sure he didn't hear or say the wrong thing. In this age of getting cancelled so quickly, I can't fault anyone for that preference.
  14. I love this attitude from our players. Vlad too after the game he hyped up in front of the fans, but as soon as he was in the tunnel he was quiet, reserved, saying "One more game, One more game". It reminds of the Kawhi Raptors who even after series wins were very focused on the next series and not being done.
  15. Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager
  16. I was pretty damn excited in 1993 when Joe touched them all despite having won the previous year and having the highest payroll in the league!
  17. I am ok with this. We want this series to go 5...get Skubal/Kirby pitching again before the ALCS
  18. Yeah, the Sox defenders looked like Yankee defenders in the inning where all the runs were scored. Not for not, but the Yankees just used Bednar 6 times in 8 days. One has to wonder if that comes back to hurt them?
  19. Jays were 6-1 at home versus the Yanks, 2-4 at Yankee's stadium. Home field could very much come into play.
  20. I was unsure if I preferred the Yankees or Red Sox as an opponent. The let down I felt watching the Yanks score their first runs last night made me realize I would have preferred the Sox.
  21. Just throwing this out there, but when Buck retires I'm guessing Siddall moves into the booth. Wouldn't Gibby be an awesome guy to have on the pre-game? That would be so much fun to listen to.
  22. Because the network who paid for the prime time game wants BOS/NYY
