  1. Getting Ryu for $80M kind of turning out to be a coup
  2. He’s already 93 on the Fangraphs. I predicted he’d be Top 50 before end of the season. Just think he’s going to continue to tear up AA. He apparently had some of the best exit velos in the alt site last year. Combine that with his affinity to rarely strikeout and I think we’ve gotten a really special offensive prospect.
  3. Shatkins deserves some criticism for their inability to build a rotation thus far, but they don't get nearly the amount of credit they deserve for the bullpens they build.
  4. Gabby Moreno's supherhuman run at AA continues. 2-for-3 with a homer, driven in 4. Still only the 7th inning
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if he continues dominating AAA. There's no point in wasting bullets. This rotation could use a shot in the arm, and he's as good of an option as any if he keeps this up.
  6. Between Spring Training and AAA, Manoah has now pitched 13 innings, allowed 3 hits, and struck out 25. I think there's a reason the front office pushed him to AAA. Have a feeling he was lighting it up in the alternate site, and so it just made sense to challenge him. I really wouldn't be surprised if Manoah is starting games for us this year if he keeps this up.
  7. We'll see, but the K% is the biggest indicator to me that he's figured something out. It feels like he should be in his 30's because he's been around forever, but Grichuk is still only 29 years old. He was reaching 4th OF territory just given his peaks and valleys, but the way he's playing now, he's looking like a real starting calibre OF.
  8. Lindor having tough game in St Louis. Still hitless (in a 0-24 stretch), had a throwing error, and then Stroman gave up a 2-run homer. Not having a great start to the season. Even worse if you looks at the last half of September 2020
  9. Austin Martin 2-for-4 with a double Groshans 1-for-3 with a walk Moreno 2-for-3 with a double Pearson carving through a AAA lineup Zach Logue through 5 shutout with 5K I missed minor league box score watching more than I realized.
  10. Randal Grichuk past 81 games (start of 2020): .281/.321/.487, 122 OPS+, 20.4% K% before that: .244/.293/.483, 105 OPS+, 28.3% K% The K% drop is pretty staggering. Hopefully he can keep it up. Always said, Grichuk could be valuable if he got his K% to a decent range combined with his defense. It's played out like that the past half seasons worth of PA's.
  11. Cant argue with a sweep against a good team. Bullpen remains fantastic. Rotation is still shaky, but Stripling had a good outing all things considered. It’ll look better when we trade for Max Scherzer at the deadline. Offense really starting to fire on all cylinders. When Semien gets it going more consistently and everyone’s healthy, he’s the 6th hitter. Nice to see Jansen get a couple knocks. We’re trending to be a Top 5 team in the AL by runs scored. f*** the wildcard, let’s go for the division. Yankees have just as much question marks as us on the pitching front (our rotation might actually be better), and our offenses are a wash. Looking like it’s gonna be a fun season.
  12. Ray: 72 pitches, 54 strikes Pete is really working his magic this year with these guys.
  13. Just think it’s worth pointing out that Ross Atkins traded Sean Reid-Foley and Yennsy Diaz for Steven Matz and replaced both of their 40-man spots with Payamps and Castro who might be better than either. We’ll see how it shakes out, but looking like a huge W.
  14. The Jays may just have something with Santiago Espinal. He really some freakish bat-to-ball skills and has demonstrated as such throughout the minors. He’s never going to be somebody who hits homers regularly, but I think there is some sneaky pop/line drive power that will translate to doubles. I think he can be at least average with the bat. Combine that with above average defense around the infield and I think you’ve got a real good option off the bench and/or insurance in case somebody gets injured.
  15. Always knew Sean Reid-Foley would turn into an ace for us
  16. Well if you ever decide to crawl out of your hole and travel outside your basement, and are open minded enough to embrace ambiguity to be team player, maybe you'd realize that everybody has varying definitions of comfort.
  17. If you actually listened to him talk, then you'd know that he was really hoping to stay in Oakland, or even sign an extension. And he said that in interviews after he signed with Toronto when he really didn't need to. He's not just after the most money. Comfortability is clearly important to him. These things are a case-by-case basis, even if the vast majority of times it does come down to money. With Semien, he really seems to like being in Toronto, we can offer him a good amount of money, and we're going to be competitive for a while. It's as great of a free agent destination as anyone can ask for.
  18. Let’s assume Semien ends up posting a 120 wRC+ and around 4 fWAR for the season. How much would it take to extend him? I really like what I’ve seen from him so far, and by all accounts, he really seems to love it here. He had other options to play everyday SS and chose to come to the Jays because of the culture and the young players. I’m not saying he’s gonna take a discount because of it, but if all goes well, I think there’s a chance we could convince him to stay. Maybe something like 5 years, $80M?
  19. Yes, I think so. Unless they decide to skip a start. He did have that play at home that left him a little shaken, but by all indications he was fine.
  20. This is a bad post, and you should feel bad for posting it.
  21. Jonathan India might be pretty good.
  22. Just caught the replay and Roark just looks plain cooked. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since 2020 affected a lot of starters who normally are reliable, but he actually looks done. He was missing his spots left and right and was basically just throwing glorified BP. I wonder where they go from here. They could look to trade him for a reclamation project earning an equivalent salary. I remember Drew Storen was pretty terrible with us in 2016 and they were able to flip him for Joaquin Benoit who turned out being good. They could put him in long relief in blow outs. My guess is he probably gets another start, but he really doesn't deserve it at all.
