  1. Opposite field too...
  2. Nick Frasso was touching 97 mph with his sinker coupled with a 72 mph curve. The curve has 64 inches of vertical drop. Could be something.
  3. I'm thinking this is going to end in MLB providing an approved substance to pitchers that tries to limit major improvements in spin, but also helps them grip it just enough so they're not hitting batters with increased frequency. If I'm a hitter, I'd still want to make sure that the guy who's chucking a 100 mph projectile near my head has a good grip. But maybe not so much so that it's giving them an obscene competitive advantage and affecting my potential earnings.
  4. For those interested, Simeon Woods-Richardson is starting against the Puerto Rican team in the Olympic qualifier today. Free to watch and good quality: Through 1 and a third with no runs so far.
  5. My goodness. This lineup is absolutely going to feast against Orioles/Tigers/Mariners pitching. Legitimate chance our combined record against those three is something like 25-8. Just gotta make sure we go .500 in the upcoming tough part of the schedule.
  6. Yes. Every minor league game is logged in Baseball-Savant, but I think only Low-A games have the actual exit velos/velos/spin rates associated with
  7. Trent Palmer Sinker: 91-94 mph, ~2300-2500 RPM 4-seamer: 92 mph, 2500 RPM Changeup: 79-80 mph, ~2100 RPM Curveball: 79 mph, ~2300-2500 RPM Slider: 80-82 mph, ~2350 RPM
  8. There's been a fair number of interesting guys yet to make their debut for some reason - Trent Palmer - Eric Pardinho - Estiven Machado - Dasan Brown - Rikelvin de Castro - Joey Murray - Manuel Beltre
  9. It’ll be hard to do with the Astros, White Sox, Red Sox, and Yankees next. After that though, 12 out of 15 games will be against the O’s, Mariners, and Miami. And hopefully with Springer and Kirk back.
  10. It is annoying how good they are. The worst part is how seemingly sustainable it is too. They are the best team in the AL whilst also having a top tier farm system. They’ll probably end up trading Austin Meadows this offseason for a haul and just not skip a beat.
  11. So does David Fletcher just suck now? Pour one out to all the victims of the dead ball. At least he got a guaranteed contract before coming undone.
  12. Nick Frasso filth https://imgur.com/vy1eUWC
  13. I'm not one for hyperbole, but Alek Manoah might be the greatest pitcher of all time.
  14. Well, Manoah is cruising 4IP, 1H, 1BB, 0ER, 5K, 58 pitches
  15. Line predictions for Manoah? 6IP, 3H, 0ER, 2BB, 10K, 1HBP
  16. We’re in a great position for next year, payroll wise. Only $64M committed, and besides Vlad and Teo, no one else will be making anything too substantial in arbitration. I think extending Marcus Semien would be one of my highest priorities, assuming he is okay with playing 2B long term. He’s become a cornerstone of this offense so far. I’d offer $15M-$16M AAV over 4-5 years and see if that gets it done. I don’t think he gets more than DJ LeMahieu, but it might be close. See if we can extend one of Robbie Ray/Steven Matz on a multi year deal. Either would be fine with me, albeit I have a slight preference for Ray because of upside. Still have some time with Vlad/Bo for now, but if you can get Teo done on something reasonably team friendly through age 32 with a team option, it’s worth doing. Maybe 4 years, $36M or something to that effect? The market for his types isn’t 5”too pricey. Marcell Ozuna just got $64M as a free agent for example. Other than that, go for a superstar pitcher on a 1-year deal. I’m thinking Max Scherzer.
  17. Damn, imagine if we signed Gausman in the offseason. Apparently we offered him a 3 year deal in the $40M range. Feels bad man.
  18. Francisco Lindor through 41 games: .185/.294/.272 .565 OPS 21st percentile Barrel% Big yikes.
  19. Defense still isn't great, but he's playable in the OF now. He's not the tirefire that he once was. Haven't checked out the advanced stats though. Of course, the bat being elite makes his defense easier to swallow. It'll be an interesting offseason. There's extension cases for Robbie Ray, Matz (if he keeps pitching well), Semien, Teoscar, and Bichette/Guerrero of course.
  20. I think there's enough of a track record at this point that says this front office can draft well that I'd be more than comfortable with whoever we end up drafting.
