  1. I'm all in on the Teoscar Hernandez breakout. I think this is just what he is now. He's made such tremendous strides since he first came up. It's kind of incredible to see. I remember the days where this board would be all over not just him, but this front office for trading for him. Since the second half of 2019: .284/.348/.569, 142 wRC+ He has a 14.7 K% since he came back from the COVID-IL. Which is crazy for a power hitter like him. Only 2 more seasons of control left with him after this season. What would an extension with him look like? I'd have to imagine it's more than Grichuks.
  2. Austin Martin 3-for-4 today. Slashing .273/.379/.364 now in AA, albeit with a pretty large K% which is kind of surprising because he rarely struck out in college. Not too worried. Sample is still small, plus he got thrust into AA for his first taste of pro-ball. Plus, a lot of college hitters from the 2020 draft seem to be having a rough start to their seasons right now. Otto Lopez continues hitting. Went 2-for-4 today and is now slashing .368/.415/.487. Anyone know what the scouting report on his defense is? I think he could end up being a solid contributor ala Cesar Hernandez for us. Not much to report other than that. Hatch starting tomorrow for AAA, so something to look out for. Could be his last start before he joins the squad.
  3. My prediction is that Manoah breaks the rookie record for K's by a Blue Jay making his debut. I think the record right now is Thornton (8). The Yankees offense is ice cold right now. I could see him going 5-6, but striking out 10.
  4. Jansen is nearly in the top 30% when it comes to catcher framing according to Baseball-Savant. It's okay to be emotional. It's not okay to be dumb.
  5. Vlad Jr's. Baseball-Savant sliders are insane right now
  6. He has. He's earning $4M this year and is in arb2 next year.
  7. Breyvic Valera has been tearing it up in AAA. 2-for-3 with a 2B and a stolen base today. I’ve always really liked him and wished we gave him an extended look. Switch hitter, contact first profile, more walks than strikeouts. I know there was also an article that talked of a swing adjustment with him recently. He’s older, but you just never know with these fringey types that have had success at AAA. They can figure it out later. I’d like to see him on the roster over Joe Panik anyways.
  8. Kloffenstein got roughed up today. 7 ER in 3 innings, 4 walks and 1K Woods-Richardson gave up 3 ER in 5 but still ended up with 8K’s. He was down early, but battled back and made adjustments. It’s was a more impressive performance than the numbers would show.
  9. Gabriel Moreno just keeps on doing it: 3-for-4 with a 2B and a walk. He is quickly becoming an untouchable prospect with his performance in AA. .444/.519/.667 good for a 1.186 OPS. Quite frankly, I’m running out of words to say to describe what he’s doing right now. Otto Lopez also doing really well in AA. .368/.419/.500 Austin Martin 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Nice to see him have a good day after a little bit of a struggle. Zach Logue, 6 innings of 1 run ball with 3 hits, 1 walk, and 6K. Nick Allgeyer pitching for the Bisons tomorrow, Simeon Woods-Richardson pitching for AA, and Adam Kloffenstein for High-A. Should be an exiting day to follow tomorrow.
  10. For getting the Baseball-Savant data for certain MiLB games, get the game id from MiLB game day and then replace any game id in any gamefeed page in baseball-savant with that game id. For example, today’s Dunedin Blue Jays game: MiLB gameday URL: https://www.milb.com/gameday/blue-jays-vs-threshers/2021/05/21/648838 Savant url: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?gamePk=648838 “gamePk”= the game id from MiLB game day
  11. Van Eyk: 6IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 9K. sitting 93-94 mph with his fastball Nick Frasso: 2IP, 0H, 1BB, 2K. Touching 97-98 with his 4-seam fastball today with around 2400 rpm spin. Also threw a 77 mph curve and 83 mph slider.
  12. Yeah, god forbid we root for one of our own players to figure something out and pitch well. That would really suck given our pitching situation. Not only that, but what you said was also factually incorrect. "Keeps getting lit up in AAA", when he actually had a 2.70 ERA coming into todays start, and has also had respectable enough numbers in AAA in a large sample
  13. Gabriel Moreno homered again today.
  14. Austin Martin not playing for the 2nd consecutive game after he was pinch hit for on the 15th. Hope it’s nothing serious.
  15. Probably was going to be the case anyways, but the Angels playoff chances are basically zero at this point.
  16. 8 top 100 prospects is nuts for a team that has graduated as many prospects as we have the last couple years. Gotta be the #2 or #3 farm system I would think.
  17. Solid outing by Adam Kloffenstein today. 6 IP, 2H, 1ER, 2BB, 4K. 0.79 ERA through 3 starts now.
  18. CJ Van Eyk with a bounce back outing: 4.2 IP, 3H, 1 ER, 2BB, 7K TJ Zeuch: 6 innings, 0 ER, 2BB, 3K
  19. Logan Warmoth single season career high in homers: 3 in 100+ games in 2019. Logan Warmoth in 7 games in AAA this year: 3 HR in 30PA Maybe he can end up being a decent 26th man. Was playing CF today, can play around the infield as well. Curious to see if he’s made some adjustments. The sample is too small right now to say. He is Rule 5 eligible this year, so it’s a big season for him.
  20. We're 19-16 despite having the toughest schedule in the league, incurring a ton of injuries to key pieces (Springer, Merryweather, Dolis, Kirk, Phelps, Hatch), and not playing a single game against the Orioles and Tigers. We're in a fantastic position. Speaks to the depth that this front office has built.
  21. What a dumbfounding decision by Snitker, but we'll take it lol
  22. Why are the Braves using a washed Josh Tomlin in high leverage?
  23. Atkin really just took a meh signing at the time and converted him to a legitimate high leverage reliever.
  24. This is the first real game action he's seeing in more than a year, and it's AA pitching and his first taste of pro ball. Him and Groshans will both be fine. Makes Moreno look even more impressive with what he's doing
  25. Yeah, so Gabriel Moreno is 3-for-3 tonight. Now hitting an even .500 for the season. Just turned 21 years old by the way
