  1. Trying to think of what the Blue Jays equivalent would be here: Jake Bloss - recently drafted pitcher with an limited but elite minor league track record and small taste of the majors. Would it be hyperbolic to say Ricky Tiedemenn? They're ranked pretty similarly in the latest BA update, albeit Bloss has actually pitched in the majors Joey Loperfido - UTIL type player with power who has some K-rate concerns - maybe Addison Barger or Davis Schneider? Will Wagner - high contact, high OBP, limited power with no clear defensive position - basically seems to me like a Horwitz clone So the Astros gave us the equivalent of Ricky Tiedemann, Addison Barger, and Spencer Horwitz all for half a season of Yusei Kikichi.
  2. I struggle to think about how any variation of a Jays team is better off without Vlad on it. It’s incredibly hard to come out ahead of trading away a mid 20’s elite talent. I’m not saying it’s impossible, just really unlikely. The Jays have been spending like a big market team in recent years, and we have a lot of money coming off the books next year. Vlad has indicated openly that he wants to stay. It would be a massive fumble on the part of the front office/ownership if they can’t come to a deal. Particularly now since he’s proving that his 2021 wasn’t a fluke.
  3. They gotta sell Chris Bassitt at this rate. Can legitimately get a couple Top 100 prospects for a solid starter with control like him. Take the $22M saved and backfill in the offseason.
  4. Holy s*** a 50FV guy for half a season of Yusei Kikuchi. Even the Ross haters gotta admit he cooked the Astros here
  5. I think you gotta move IKF. He's riding a career high wRC+ right now and there are contenders desperate for someone like him (like Atlanta). You can probably get a really good return for him and backfill comfortably in free agency or even internally (Leo Jimenez)
  6. Not expecting much here. Hopefully we ate some salary to maximize return
  7. This dude is reporting that Jays are asking for Justin Wrobelski from the Dodgers in return for Kikuchi. Same dude who had IKF to the Jays before anyone else, so he clearly has sources
  8. Carson Messina is forgoing his commitment to USC and going pro looks like
  9. Rays would get Nathan Flewelling right before our pick lmao. I wanted him so bad. He apparently has the highest exit velo in the high school class out as a 17 year old.
  10. Pretty solid underslot pick if so.
  11. Hoping we can go for Luke Holman in the 3rd round tomorrow.
  12. One thing I’ve noticed since Atkins became GM is that we rarely get poached of front office personnel when other teams are looking to fill GM roles. Even being mentioned in any rumours. Ben Cherington left to become GM of the Pirates, but the Jays were clearly a stopgap for him until he found another GM opening. Meanwhile, Shapiro had a track record of absolutely elite hiring when it came to front office executives who are some heavy hitters during his time in Cleveland. These are all people he hired as interns for the Guardians: - Mike Chernoff and Chris Antonetti (Guardians GM and PoBo) - Derek Falvey (Twins PoBo) - Carter Hawkins (Cubs GM) - David Stearns (Mets PoBo) - Mike Hazen (Dbacks GM) Unfortunately we haven’t had the same success with developing front office talent as well as on field
  13. There will be coaching turnover, but Schneider/Atkins/Shapiro will all end up staying imo.
  14. Another absolutely bonkers night for Riley Tirotta. He went 5-for-6 with 2 homers in a 21-10 win for the Bisons. He’s slashing .338/.444/.721 with 7 home runs in 19 games in AAA. Leo Jimenez also had a great game going 4-for-5 with a homer and 2 BB. Video of Tirotta home runs: https://www.milb.com/video/riley-tirotta-s-two-homer-game-x2405?t=playerid-694661
  15. 2 homer game for Damiano Palmegiani today
  16. Seems like he's got some big boy power: https://www.milb.com/buffalo/video/riley-tirotta-s-two-homer-game
  17. Juarlin Soto (left hand hitting SS who we signed in the 2024 IFA class) off to a hot start in the DSL: Only 5 games, but posting 1.171 OPS with 7BB and 3K. The swing looks awesome tbh, and seems like he quieted down his hands even more. A guy to keep your eyes on for sure.
  18. Blue Jays receive: Connor Norby + some Rk ball 40 FV SP Prospect Orioles receive: Yusei Kikuchi + Yimi Garcia + Cash
  19. Orelvis with another dinger
  20. IKF has honestly been such a solid signing
  21. Meanwhile, top hitting prospects for the Rays: Junior Caminero, 20 years old in AAA: 111 wRC+ Carson Williams: 21 years old in AA, 188 wRC+ Xavier Isaac: 20 years old in High-A, 146 wRC+ Brailer Guerrero: 18 year old in the FCL, 196 wRC+ - probably the next Rays uber prospect Orioles still have Jackson Holliday, Coby Mayo and Heston Kjerstad in their system Yankees have had some good young position player talent in Volpe and Dominguez Like if Davis Schneider didn't develop out of nowhere, we'd be looking at no impact hitting talent graduating since the Vlad/Bo era started. Pretty pathetic.
  22. Worth noting that our A-ball team plays in the Florida State League which is a death sentence for hitters, so you have to grade them on a curve. They have the 2nd youngest avg batters age in the FCL and yet are 3rd best in run scoring. Looking at OPS alone is a bit deceptive. By wRC+, given most of these players are still younger for the level, they seem to be holding their own: Victor Arias, 123 wRC+ Edward Duran, 115 wRC+ Yhoangel Aponte, 107 wRC+ Manuel Beltre, 105 wRC+ Tucker Toman, 101 wRC+ Like I don't think they are going to develop into can't-miss superstar-level talents, but they can still turn into useful big leaguers given how young they are. I agree though, there's a distinct lack of impact hitting prospects in this pipeline at the moment beyond maybe Orelvis. And even then, he's has a career .239 batting average in the minors which raises red flags for me in his ability to make contact at the major league levels.
  23. Adam Macko: 6IP, 4H, 1ER, 0BB, 9K. Got 20 swings/misses today
  24. Ryan Jennings might be a guy: Went 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 0BB, 6K today for the C’s dropping his season ERA to 2.59 and a 9.5 K/9. He was actually a senior sign in 2022 so significantly older for the level. Would like to see him challenged in AA sooner rather than later, but his pitch profile is interesting:
  25. Some good news from the farm yesterday: Alan Roden with 4-for-5 with 2 home runs. Power is starting to show with 3 homers in his last 6 games. He's on a 29-homer per 162 games pace right now which is much improved from last season. K/BB rates still looking solid, walking almost as much as striking out. One thing to monitor here is that the org seems to be shielding him from facing lefties, so they might just project him as a platoon player. Either way though, assuming he keeps playing well, we could see him in AAA pretty soon (it's his age 24 season) and then probably a 40-man consideration for the offseason. Josh Kasevich with another 3-for-4 day with a 2B. He's still hit over power, but his SLG is trending upwards with him almost matching his doubles total from last season in a third of the PAs. Becoming more bullish on his ability to develop into a starter with strong defense and high contact, especially if he can tap into a little more power. Adam Macko with a 5IP, 2H, 1ER, 3BB, 6K
