Any interest in Dinelson Lamet? Recently DFA'd by the Brewers even though they just acquired him in the Hader trade.
Could be nasty out of the bullpen, if he stays healthy. Massive IF though.
Show me a starting pitcher in the major leagues that has a delivery like Nick Frasso - I'll wait. Pretty certain he's a bullpen arm when it's all said and done. He may end up a very good one, but he's also almost 24 and in High-A. Mitchell White is 27 and already proven in the MLB at worst as a capable long man/5th starter/spot starter. I don't get the Stripling comps either. White has legitimate stuff with good velocity. His curveball is really good.
Like everyone has already mentioned, there isn't one prospect we've traded that we've really regretted. If Frasso was a high-probability top of the rotation starter, they wouldn't have traded him. He's not Ricky Tiedemann. He's a 4th round pick we developed to the point where he became an intriguing prospect. Have to trust our player development and new pitching lab will start churning out more Nick Frasso's going forward.
Romano is so hit and miss with that slider. When it’s off, it gets absolutely destroyed. His fastball is looking really good recently though.
Nice win. A season high 13 games over .500! On track for 91 wins.
Joc Pederson would be good to have as OF insurance. Pretty awful defensively, but maybe we can make it worth with Zimmer as a defensive sub. Still holding out hope for Syndergaard + Gregory Soto.
Gregory Soto + Syndergaard + either JD Martinez or Joc Pederson. That would be a hell of a deadline.
SP:
Noah Sydergaard
Carlos Rodon
Nathan Eovaldi
Pablo Lopez
Martin Perez
RP:
Michael Fulmer
Gregory Soto
Andrew Chafin
David Bednar
Raisel Iglasias
Hitters:
Ian Happ
JD Martinez
Joc Pederson
...still on the trade block. Could be tons of moves to come still. Feel like Atkins is waiting for a team to drop the prices the last hour.
So the Padres get:
- Juan Soto
- Josh Hader
- Josh Bell
- Brandon Drury
- Joe Musgrove extension
- Get rid of Eric Hosmer
...is that the greatest trade deadline of all time for a single team?
So our bullpen is looking like
Romano, Garcia, Pop, Bass, Cimber, Mayza, Phelps.
Pretty good. It'd be nice if we can one more reliever, and another starter and we're set.
Good guy Orelvis getting his trade value up right before we trade him for Soto.
Seriously though, that power is absurd for a 20 year old in AA. He doesn’t even have to make that much more of an improvement on his hit tool to be valuable.
Injured his back from carrying the Angels his entire career
On a serious note, one of the greatest players (arguably the greatest at his peak) of all time, and 11 years into his career he's played (and lost) 2 playoff games. Brutal.
If Yusei Kikuchi gets shelled against a historically inept offensive team like the Tigers (.620 team OPS), then I think there might be a legitimate case to DFA him on the spot.
The above tweet makes it sound like they are done with their signings. Kale Davis is already confirmed to be not signing. Gregory Pace would be the other not signed.
Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt won't come to Toronto since they are unvaccinated.
Woahhhh. That's removing a 190 OPS+ and 155 OPS+ from the lineup. Huge.
The backend of the O’s bullpen is crazy good.
Cionel Perez sitting 97 mph from the left side
Felix Bautista SITTING 100-101 mph with a nasty split
Felix Bautista made the Yankees look like children. Insane.
