  1. Jays have the 10th worst pitching staff ERA (4.10) in all of MLB, and 10th worst in runs allowed per game. Doesn’t paint a good picture.
  2. Cavan redemption tour continues.
  3. Biggio had a .944 OPS in June coming into today, and he’s walked twice and doubled. Certainly helps our left handed bat situation.
  4. This man absolutely dominates the Rays every start. That fact alone almost makes the signing worth it.
  5. Is there a reason Hagen Danner hasn’t pitched at all this year?
  6. I’ll allow the Yankees to break the all time season wins record if it means they get bounced in the first round.
  7. Jesus, Aaron Hicks with a massive 3 run game tying bomb against Pressly in the bottom of the 9th. Irks me how good the Yankees are this year.
  8. If you made a team solely comprised of injured players on the Rays, they probably win a wildcard spot. The number of projected WAR is absurd:
  9. Mahle isn't vaccinated. Which sucks, because he'd be a perfect fit.
  10. I just love the fact that O’s fans get to watch our highly touted catching prospect outperform their highly touted catching prospect.
  11. O's have graduated from being a historically bad team to just regular bad. Lost 110 games last season, on track to lose 92 this year. To my surprise, they haven't been terrible offensively, and have some pretty decent bullpen arms that throw gas. Still a team we should beat a lot, but it might not be as easy as last season.
  12. Just our luck that the moment our team looks like a legitimate World Series contender, the Yankees have one of the greatest 60-game stretches ever to start a season. I think our offense will end up being better than theirs by end of season. Our team OPS is not that far apart, and they have a tougher schedule ahead. But their pitching is on another level right now.
  13. James Norwood DFA’d by the Phillies. He is 100% someone we should look to add to the back of the bullpen. Averages 97 mph on his fastball. He’s got an 89th percentile Barrell%, 87th percentile chase rate. The Phillies pitching development is an absolute trash fire, so he’s worth bringing in to see if we can unlock something. The raw tools are hard to find.
  14. Not sure if already posted, but Ricky Tiedemenn is now represented by Scott Boras, according to Tiedemenn’s Instagram profile.
  15. I'm quite confident the power will be there. The problem with him is because his bat-to-ball skills are outrageously elite, he tends to swing (and to his credit, successfully hit) bad pitches. Obviously that becomes an issue when trying to hit home runs, but his swing decisions will improve the more he gets exposed to the major leagues. He's not going to be a huge power guy anyways, but I'm confident he can hit anywhere from 20-25 homers on a consistent basis, which is fantastic for a catcher. That doesn't account for the ton of doubles he's going to hit as well. The raw exit velo's are there.
  16. Dusty was purely a play for optics coming off the sign-stealing scandal. To his credit, he's done pretty well there so far and has been making analytically inclined decisions. La Russa was Jerry Reinsdorf hiring his golf buddy right as the White Sox got good so he could undo a mistake he mad years ago firing him. Zero logic to that decision. He's been a disaster over there.
  17. Adley Rustchman with a 24 wRC+ through 15 games. Talk about a slow start. Now we just need our highly-touted catching prospect to get off to a hot start, and O's fans will be in even more misery.
  18. I've watched a fair bit of Vancouver Canadians live this year, and they make the Orioles defence at the peak of their rebuild look elite. They are really, really bad. I don't like looking at ERA for minor league pitchers anyways because of bad defenses, but that goes double for the C's.
  19. Nice to see this front office deliver on the promise of having a consistently good farm system. We're not like the White Sox, who tore it down, built up their farm, and once they graduated all their top prospects, they had nobody of note anymore. We're seeing the effects of that right now. They have zero depth to go if anyone is injured. On the other hand, we've graduated Vlad, Bo, Jansen, Teoscar, Manoah in recent years and still have a lot of players to be excited about (mostly on the pitching side, which is awesome). Don't forget, we also have a large draft pool and extra picks due to Robbie Ray and Semien leaving. Another big reload coming!
  20. I’m still not giving up on the division. Offense still isn’t firing on all cylinders. Vlad, Teo, Bo, Chapman, Lourdes all will have better stats by end of season then they currently do. Pitching staff will get a breather with an easy strength of schedule. Defense has been mostly good. It is somewhat irritating that we’re on a 97 win pace and are still 7 games behind the Yankees, but we’ll close the gap. Firmly believe that our best baseball is still ahead of us.
  21. Gotta be careful with Buxton. He has the highest OPS against the Jays of any opponent in his career: 1.038 career OPS.
  22. Bowden Francis got roughed up today. 5 ER in 1.1 innings which brings his AAA season ERA to 8.82. Thomas Hatch is still struggling in AAA. Anthony Kay hasn’t pitched anywhere since April 22nd (and isn’t on the minor league DL either). Kind of sucks that none of them have progressed enough to be viable major league pitchers. I especially had high hopes for Hatch, who showed impressive stuff in 2020. Maybe not as a starter, but definitely a long man or a bulk guy.
  23. His stuff actually looked really good today. 95 mph 4-seamer 80 mph curve 86 mph slider 92 mph cutter One of the better outings I've seen from him. It's just that when he's off, he gets absolutely shelled. Not much margin of error for him.
  24. Wouldn't be a 2022 Blue Jays game without a 1 run lead.
