  1. Will it really cost that much to get Robertson? He's owed $25 million over the next 2 years which is insane for a reliever. Sox eating some cash and us giving up a B-level prospect would likely get the job done. Either way, I don't think getting Robertson is the way to go. Just hope we strike gold with a couple of these minor league signings, and sign a established reliever like a Blevins. And then just upgrade the 'pen as the season goes on through trades.
  2. There's more important things to talk about guys. Big moves are being made:
  3. Wonder if we have enough in the budget now for one of Moss/Pagan + one of Blevins/Logan. Prices are dramatically falling on guys at this point.
  4. Overton is a good get by the Mariners.
  5. Fair enough. Probably underselling Rockies rotation a bit. Didn't realize how young their rotation really is. And Hoffman is gonna be good too. Rockies did add some good pieces this offseason, but man did they overpay. That's exactly what I mean. Signing Dunn is a good move. Paying him $19 mil over 3 years isn't. Granted they probably had to overpay to get him at Coors, but still.
  6. I feel like they need a Top 30 when it comes to ranking outfield prospects. 3 times as many positions to play so it only makes sense. Alford probably would've cracked top 20. Ramirez, maybe top 30. That's an insane Top 10 though. Clint Frazier at #9 tells you all you need to know.
  7. In a vacuum those signings aren't bad. I'd even venture to say they're good. It's just the actual deals are pretty terrible. 3 years and $19 million for Mike Dunn?
  8. Rockies can do all they want to try and compete, but that rotation is still scrub-city.
  9. That's two guys I really wanted off the board today. Jackson and Holland would've been really nice. Have the numbers on Holland been released yet?
  10. Yeah, it might've fallen a bit flat....
  11. Speaking of LHP, Dillon Overton just got DFA'd. He was a Top 10 prospect for the A's coming into last season. He had TJS and velocity did drop a bit, but I'd pick him up for back of the rotation depth and/or the bullpen.
  12. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/12/15/13965994/rockies-ian-desmond-charlie-blackmon-trade-rumors
  13. Is Holland gonna play 1B for the Rockies?
  14. Projected for 0.4 WAR according to Steamer.
  15. Nice. Wonder if Urena sneaks into that Top 10 at SS.
  16. Vlad just got ranked the 3rd best 3B prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Meaning he's gonna be Top 100 for sure. 2017 Top 10 3B prospects: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017/?list=3b 1. Rafael Devers (BOS) 2. Nick Senzel (CIN) 3. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR) 4. Christian Arroyo (SFG) 5. Jeimer Candelerio (CHC) 6. Matt Chapman (OAK) 7. Miguel Andujar (NYY) 8. Austin Riley (ATL) 9. Ke'Bryan Hayes (PIT) 10. Hunter Dozier (KC) Scouting report and grades: Good stuff. Nearly all the reports I've read on Vlad have been really positive. He's the crown jewel of our farm.
  17. There are some questions marks for sure in that lineup. Not sure how Mallex Smith is going to do etc. Can't deny that the Rays have a solid rotation though. That's usually a good place to start when you're contending.
  18. Would've been nice for $1 million.
  19. Their Pythagorean W-L record in 2016 was 77-85, and they've definitely gotten better in the offseason. I don't think its that big of a stretch to think they could contend.
  20. That rotation with De Leon can potentially be very scary. And the lineup for the Rays looks pretty good. LF Mallex Smith CF Kevin Kiermaier RF Colby Rasmus 3B Evan Longoria SS Matt Duffy 2B Nick Franklin 1B Brad Miller C Wilson Ramos Granted, I like Mallex Smith and Matt Duffy more than most. Wouldn't be surprised if the Rays are in the wildcard race if everyone remains healthy.
  21. I'm really really hoping we can get Holland, but I think the Nats land him.
  22. Holding out on the reliever market is probably the smartest thing Atkins has done this offseason after re signing Bautista. Mike Dunn got a 3 year deal for gods sake. Glad he's not overspending on the bullpen. Wait it out until the last possible moment and then pick up the scraps for cheap. Good bullpens can be built for cheap.
  23. We literally went through this exact situation with Storen, and he had a worse contract.
  24. Marco Estrada is a free agent after this season, and one could argue he's been our most consistent pitcher these past few years. He's already been worth more than his contract just one season in. Statline with the Blue Jays so far: 22-17, 3.30 ERA, 357.0IP, 127 ERA+, 1.081 WHIP, 4.28 WHIP He's been worth 7.0 WAR in his tenure with the Jays so far. Positives: - Doesn't rely on velocity to pitch, so he might age better comparative to other pitchers - Unbelievably clutch in the postseason. 2.64 ERA in 47 innings pitched Negatives: - Back issues and is injury prone (pitched with a herniated disc all of the second half apparently) - Will be 34 in July So do we try to get him back after this season? Would you want him back even if he has another good season given his age? Discuss.
