  1. Him and Puig got into it a while back when they were teammates. But I mean, it is Puig.
  2. Pete Walker will make Jeff Beliveau great again.
  3. Would Tim Lincecum be worth it bought in as a bullpen arm? Clearly doesn't have it as a starter anymore, but I think he can be good out of the pen.
  4. Ideally you want Bautista as a full time DH at his age. He's a better hitter than Morales. Now that Morales is signed, we'll have to get clever with him splitting time between the OF, 1B, and DH.
  5. I agree. I think Morales will be more than worth his contract. I just think it's handicapping us in terms of getting back a Bautista or Encarnacion.
  6. Morales signing early is handicapping us. But I don't think anyone really expected the market to be this sour on either Edwin or Bautista, so the front office went and got Morales early just in case.
  7. How the mighty have fallen. I don't see any single fit for Bautista anywhere but here. It's between us and the O's, and the Indians basically.
  8. The front office is literally gonna wait this out as long as they can so that the prices drop on several guys who don't end up getting signed. Like a Pagan, Moss, Valbuena etc. They're gambling that some of these guys won't be signed and will need to find somewhere to go. We've signed Morales and Pearce, who collectively cost us ~$17 million. Assuming the payroll ends up being $160 million, that gives us just $23 million to add 2 OF, a couple bullpen pieces, and a backup catcher. I wouldn't expect any big moves or anything for a while. Late Dec/January is probably when things will pickup for us. Just a guess. I just hope we sign Bautista soon.
  9. He had the second worst UZR in the league iirc. Even Bautista was a better defender. No thanks to JD Martinez.
  10. Actually, Valbuena would be a really nice pickup. He's projected at 1.5 WAR next season, but I think he'll outperform that given regular playing time. Real good splits. Can hit for power. Can take a walk. He can basically play anywhere in the infield (nice backup incase Travis gets injured as well). And then you could put Pearce in LF.
  11. Doesn't matter. He's not even gonna get traded anyways. Pretty much close to untouchable.
  12. Not sure if Cutch gets moved at this point. Bucks will hope for him to rebound and then probably flip him at the trade deadline. Jarrod Dyson is another potential trade target. Just give me Bautista + Dyson and I'll be more than a happy man.
  13. Jose is literally the only good power bat left except Edwin, and there's no point in signing Edwin at this point. I hope we haven't moved on from him. Why do I get the feeling that we're going to end up with Ben Revere and Jay Bruce when it's all said and done.
  14. Biagini for Conforto straight up. Who says no. C'mon Mets. Be nice. We gave you Thor after all.
  15. After that Turner and Jansen contract, EE and Jose are basically the two biggest FA still not signed. It's been a terrible market for free agents unless you're a high-end reliever. I think we can get Jose for 3/45 with an opt out after the first year according to this market.
  16. 11-min Josh Donaldson interview: Baseball talks starts around 7:40. Rest is basically about MMA, but still a good listen Cliffs: - Doesn't know if Edwin or Jose will be back. Was hanging out with both of them a couple days back. When asked if he thinks they're gonna be back, he just kinda shrugs it off, but his reaction is kinda telling. Says "they'll find love somewhere". - Him and Gibby have a "father-son" relationship. - From the conversations he had with Shapiro and Atkins, he describes them as "very very smart and intelligent with their decisions when it comes to pitching".
  17. Yeah, for Jay Bruce.
  18. Moss would be okay. Obviously would love Dyson. Bautista should be our priority right now.
  19. Man I would absolutely love to flip Happ right now. Sell high, even though I do think he can be as good as he was during last season. It's unfortunate none of our young arms are ready to come up just yet. If we could somehow flip a package around Happ + mid-level prospects for Blackmon, that'd be great.
  20. We have all the leverage right now over Bautista. He has very little places to go at this point. 3 years, $50 million seems fair. Structure it so he gets the same that he would've had he accepted the QO. $17.2 million 1st year with an opt-out, and then you can do a team option for the 3rd year. I think that's fair. You can probably get him for cheaper than that too if push comes to shove.
  21. I'd assume so. He's still with the same team. Basically automatic NTC if we resign him. Also, I would much rather Dyson or Moss than Revere.
  22. If we don't spend this offseason, the only possible explanation can be that we're going after Shohei Otani in 2018.
  23. That Fowler contract is an overpay, but not a gross overpay or anything. It would've been worth getting him on those terms, however he'd likely want 5/90 from us to play a corner outfield, on turf, and also for tax reasons. Cards made a win-now decision. It'll pay off. I was looking at bWAR, where he was listed at 5.3. Give him a whole season and I think he put up a 5+ win season. It's just a matter of whether or not he can play that full season healthy.
  24. He's already proven he's a 5+ win player through a whole season worth of games. He is injury-prone. Between Tulo and Travis, that's a shaky infield. Gurriel and Urena can't come up fast enough. Also, I don't think Braves are looking to deal Inciarte at all. Especially not for Pillar as the main piece.
  25. Devon Travis would like a word with you.
