  1. If there's any silver lining in all of this it's that the team was positioned to win a large chunk of these games if they simply managed to hit better with runners in scoring position. There were a lot of good starts from the rotation which gave the team a shot to win most of the time.
  2. In Garcia's defense he had to have been running on fumes yesterday. That was his 4th appearance in 5 days, and 5th appearance in a week's time. Leading into yesterday's game he had actually been pitching pretty well over nearly the last month.
  3. The current stats don't really back this up you know. Right now the Jays bullpen ranks 2nd in all of MLB with a 14% swinging strike rate. For combined swinging/called strike rate they are first in MLB. I don't think a lack of swing and miss is the issue here, I think a team wide lack of command among the relief core is more to blame for the issues the pen runs into. The team doesn't rank very well in walk rate, and poor command has led to the propensity to serve up plates of spicy meatballs. The club is accordingly near the bottom in home run rate as well. That's led to middle of the pack team wide bullpen ERA and bottom third FIP ranking.
  4. Swanson has been coughing up his own share of homers lately so I can understand the reasoning behind it.
  5. When it rains it pours. Manoah finally provided a decent start and the team scored some runs. Then Romano coughs up a 3 run home run to f*** it all up.
  6. f***ing umpire with the gift strike one call.
  7. Good job by Jimmy with a Y to shut down the threat.
  8. He's been pitching pretty well recently. Only something like 2 ER in his last 10 innings or so.
  9. He definitely had an early assist from the home plate umpire though. Early on his command was pretty scattershot and he was gifted a bunch of undeserved strike calls.
  10. I thought his pitches legitimately looked better. There were far fewer non competitive pitches and he dotted a lot of two seamers and four seamers effectively.
  11. I'd take the neck/shoulder for sure given how many sporting careers we've seen ruined by concussions. They tend to become more severe with related occurrences.
  12. I was worried about a potential concussion given how much easier it is to get a second concussion after the initial one.
  13. Not sure why they decided to burn Mayza so quickly. He's been a lot more effective so far against right handed hitters this season so it's not a death sentence if he has to face a few of them.
  14. Two Jays home runs in 1 game? Am I dreaming?
  15. It seemed like he became less of a factor as the game went on as Manoah started commanding better.
  16. Was he though? Manoah made a lot better pitches to my eyes and generally displayed a lot better command.
  17. Best to get Manoah out of there anyway but that's a bad look on Schneider to not realize it's the second mound visit of the inning.
  18. Yeah time to go to Mayza asap the way this inning is unfolding.
