  1. I don’t know about that, it looked like Urena just ignored him.
  2. Because the majority of fans would rather listen to old school ex players reminiscing about the good old days, than some nerds analysing spreadsheets. That’s just the way it is, we’re in the minority.
  3. This is an interesting read: Assume they fell out over a woman, but who knows.
  4. He's batting .500 on the season (you are correct though!)
  5. Haha, understatement of the day!
  6. He's still getting sent down as soon as Vlad is up though.
  7. Every f***ing thread.......... change the record
  8. Yeah. I've missed watching him pitch fully fit, an encouraging start.
  9. Will you give it a f***ing rest, Pillar is 30 not 35. He's not worth much in a trade so we're not missing out on a haul, stop obsessing!
  10. IMO the projection of a 77 team is pretty accurate and there are pluses and minuses to a 5-10 game swing either way. Realistically with the moves made so far we’re likely to be under rather than over and we are rank outsiders to challenge for the playoffs no matter what happens. But for all the reasons you said I don’t believe trading everyone who isn’t a prospect and trying to bottom out is the correct thing to do. If we didn’t have high end prospects like Jansen, Vlad and Bo just starting their careers then sure go full tear down, but that isn’t the case.
  11. You are assuming that signing a few more relievers would significantly improve the team, which is unlikely.
  12. Disagree. In a rebuilding year payroll flexibility is important to facilitate deals later in the season where we take on salary to get prospects. IMO this is a better approach than spending every bit of the budget upfront on relievers, hoping that they have a good year so that you can flip them.
  13. We are not a good bullpen away from competing so I’m not going to get upset that we’ve spent minimal amounts on relievers. Besides, unless you’re signing truly elite relievers, they are so volatile that the difference between dumpster diving and mid tier contracts is unpredictable. For nearly every DFA candidate that doesn’t work, there’s a Dominic Leone that has a good season out of nowhere and vice versa for more expensive relievers.
  14. Exactly, 97-100 wins were the two wildcard places last year i.e. we are 20 or so wins away from being competitive. Agree to disagree on the value of spending that kind of money on relievers to (potentially) add a few meaningless wins.
  15. Hudson was only signed last minute because of the late injuries in the bullpen, and to Travis that opened up a spot on the roster. In a rebuilding year IMO spending on the bullpen isn’t a very good idea - cheap short term deals are the way to go. It’s not like Clippard or any other reliever out there is going to add the 20 or so wins we’d need to be competitive.
  16. We were linked with Romo so it’s likely we at least had preliminary discussions with his agent, but TBF a player has to want to sign here. Warren and Romo already signed for $1m more than Hudson, we would likely have had to pay even more to get them to join us instead of the teams they chose. With all the dead money the budget might be tighter than we realise.
  17. Elvis looks so young, definitely no older than 12.
  18. Is anyone here old enough to remember the first Jays season?
  19. Pat on when Vlad might be called up: “he’ll be here when he gets here”. Insightful.
  20. Shapiro said it was too expensive.
  21. Pat Tabler is annoying me already.
  22. Buck’s hair has so much hairspray in it that it must be a fire hazard.
  23. Finally!
  24. A rights issue with the broadcasters I assume (i.e commentators only, no studio analysts). They always blank out the “back to the studio for an update from around the league” but too.
  25. Apparently the card payment system is down too and it’s cash only at the stadium. It’s going to be a long season!
