    Bad faith? SMH, ridiculous. Some of you people can't bear to give AA any credit for anything....... Bad faith would be lowballing an offer, then refusing to go higher when the player laughs in your face. I absolutely agree that Albies has been badly advised and has probably been blinded by the insane money for someone coming from nothing, and been sold the benefits of long term security and playing with his mate Acuna. But the fact remains that he has signed the deal so he must think it's an acceptable deal for him (even though he should have got a lot more). That's on Albies and his agent, just because Atlanta would have expected some negotiation to a higher amount doesn't mean they should give him more money than he has asked for.

    Haha, this is a terrible take. What an amazing deal for Atlanta, Albies wasn’t forced to sign the contract.

    That’s a great question - if it’s allowed we could see relievers playing positions and pitching for 3 non consecutive players, especially in the NL. It could eventually even be the best way to utilise Ohtani (though I want to see him dominate as a starter for a few years first).

    Winning games is not the most important thing right now. Montoyo said he wants Brito to get maximum at bats so that he can access if he has a future with the team. TBF I suspect the answer is no.

    It was Hanson that replaced Smoak, Brito was previously in at 9. Not that it matters much when the opposing team's starter nearly gets a no hitter every game!

    IMO the fate of Shatkins mainly depends on if Vlad succeeds (seems like overeating & injuries are the only thing that can prevent that), what happens with Sanchez and Stroman (traded / extended / injured), and how many of the other top prospects make it. If the above all go well, then spending money to complement a solid foundation (something that Shapiro never really got to do in Cleveland) is the big test. If the above don’t go well then Shatkins won’t get the chance and they will be out in 4/5 years at most.

    Depends what you mean by a lot I guess. In 2017 a 34 year old catcher and a light hitting CF were not going to bring in a return that would transform the current team.

    TBF Donaldson, Stroman and Happ would have been the only players to bring in significantly more if they were traded in the 2017 offseason. It’s very unlikely that the MLB roster would be in better shape right now, we’d just have a few more prospects.

    Not sure why they don't move Tellez to 1B and have Hernandez at DH, but ho hum.

    Must mean Hanson makes his debut at 2B then.

    Yeah I do think it sends the wrong message to him by putting him at 1B to begin his career without giving him a shot at sticking at 3B. Especially as he should have at least a year in the majors where it doesn't really matter too much if he sucks defensively, as we're not in contention, so he's got more time to improve at 3B. If we try it and it doesn't work, nevermind, we get an elite bat at 1B and Vlad gets to eat whatever the hell he wants for the next decade.
